I saw them, the flashes tonight. My friend noticed it and then she told us and we looked and we saw a lot. It was creepy. We were in the Safeway parking lot near Coquitlam centre.
This happened around 11:15 p.m.
My other friends also noticed it, and texted me. It came from the Coquitlam River region, kind of and I tried taking a video, but the flashes were bright outside, but they wouldn't show up on the video. Cheers!

On August 19 between 12:30-2:00 am my wife and I also observed strange lights north of the Coquitlam area. The object was very distant in the sky, blinking red,blue and white lights. It hovered in the same postion for long periods of time and would then shift very quickly back and forth and up and down. A few times it appeared to emit a large bright flash that lit up the area around the object. This is the second time we have witnessed this same activity in the same area. I did take video of it on my blackberry but it did not turn out either.
