Hello, I was at a campground on Wicklow Beach Rd. (Just east of Grafton) on Saturday night October 9, 2011 with family enjoying a campfire around I believe 9 or 9:30. We noticed an Orange/Red glow in the sky moving eastward along the beach, I think several hundred feet up.
It was I believe to be about the size of a small car. It had a flickering effect to it, it reminded me of those flying Chinese lanterns with a flame source that makes them rise and float. It moved slow enough to be able to watch it for 5 to 7 minutes.
After it had disappeared, about 20 minutes. later we could hear a helicopter coming westward along the lake, presumably from Trenton air base. We considered this to be a coincidence, until approximately 1 hour later the same sighting, same duration and same time frame for the helicopter to come by happened again.
If you have seen anything like this in the same area please be kind enough to contact Brian Vike at: sighting@telus.net with the details of your sighting. All personal information is kept confidential.

It is a flare from a CC130H Hercules used in support of the CH146 on a search for a missing person. Nothing paranormal...just trying to save lives. This happens a lot and, if I was not in the business of rescue, I too would easily wonder what that was. The orange/red glow is the phosphorus burning to produce that massive candle power so that search crews can see at night to locate people in need of being found. Hope this helps you.
