UFO Sighting At Nanoose Bay

Brian Vike's Favorite Cases.

Newspaper Article.

By Neil Horner

Parksville Qualicum Beach News.

Researcher Brian Vike says a record number of sightings have come from Vancouver Island this year.

Vancouver Island continues to be a hot spot for sightings of unidentified flying objects, says a Houston, B.C.-based researcher.

“There were a lot of sighting reports from Vancouver Island,” said Brian Vike, who runs the UFO research website The Vike Factor. “I don’t think it would take a lot more reports to have that area in the top 10 at year’s end.”

Last year, he said, there were 1,000 reported sightings of unidentified flying objects in all of Canada, but this year he has posted 799 himself — and he has more than 200 more reports sitting in his mail in-box after being away for a month.

“That is phenomenal. The most I’ve ever got was 400 for a whole year,” he said. “This is a huge, huge spike.”

One of the most recent sightings, he said, came from Nanoose Bay.

The report described the passing of a strange, brightly lit object near the Schooner Cove Marina.

“I was standing out on my upper deck in the dark to cool off at about 9:45 p.m. on Aug. 18, when an extremely large, low-flying object appeared just over the tree line from the west,” the report said. “It moved eastward at a very slow rate of speed. It was square in shape flying on a diagonal with brilliant bright white, red, green and blue lights underneath. It had white strobing lights running from the middle to the back end which clearly outlined it’s square shape — as opposed to an airplane with wings.”

The object moved in complete silence until it disappeared from view behind the trees to the east.

“I quickly ran down the road to where there is an unobstructed view eastward across the open ocean towards Vancouver where I expected to still see it flying, but it was nowhere in sight and had disappeared.”

As a policy, Vike does not release the names of the people who report to him. The sighting, Vike said, was an odd one.

“The weird thing is the shape,” he said. “It is pretty strange. The lights sound like navigation lights, but he couldn’t see any wings on that thing and I don’t know of too many square airplanes. It’s a really weird kind of beast.”

Another strange sighting was reported the following morning over south Nanaimo. “I got a call from my boyfriend at 9:45 a.m. to say he had just seen a UFO by the Country Club,” the report said. “It was as bright as a street light. So I went outside of my house and looked up and saw one light that was much farther away than what he saw, six zagging back and forth towards the ocean.”

The light faded and disappeared, only to be followed by another that looked exactly the same, zig-zagging towards Port Place Mall, before disappearing.

Skywatchers got an eyeful on Aug. 12 as well, when a Courtenay resident reported seeing something odd in the night sky. “I noticed the light on Monday … around 10 p.m. It was moving slowly, in an eastern trajectory. It was much brighter and larger than any other star in the sky. I only noticed when I noticed my neighbours outside, pointing up at it. The object went straight over my house and towards the local airforce base.”

Small Silver Saucer Shaped UFO Levitates Recliner At Echo Bay Ontario

Brian Vike's Favorite Cases.

Date:  Christmas Eve in either 1981 - 1982

Time:  4:00 a.m.

Hi Brian, I will relate a sighting I had on Christmas eve in either 1981-82. My first wife and I were visiting friends in Echo Bay, Ontario near Sault Ste Marie for a few days. We were planning on returning to Sudbury the following morning, a 2.5 hour drive.

I was reading a book all night sitting on the living room lazy-boy chair in the mid-recline position. Everyone in the household were sound asleep, except me. The time was 4:00 a.m.

Suddenly, a powerful spotlight type beam of light shone from outside inward through the bay window curtains located on my right side, the beam hitting the opposing living room wall, tracking from right to left as though searching for something.

Then, the chair I was sitting on began to levitate 3 or 4 inches and shaking, the hair on my neck and arms stood erect, but not out of fear. The air smelled like burnt electricity and there was no sound heard. The Christmas tree at the far left corner of the living room whose branches began to move up and down like the flapping wings of a bird, so to speak, seemed to react to some unknown force.

Being somewhat spooked by the experience which lasted approximately 15 seconds, I decided to jump off the chair while still in its reclined and levitated position, and walked toward the entrance of the living room where the tree was also situated at the left side.

Passing next to the tree, its trunk bent toward me with several branches extended like arms to grab me, so it seemed, as though alive, but I attribute that phenomenon to perhaps magnetism, because as I backed away a few feet, the tree reverted to its normal position, and the closer I returned, it bent toward me.

Therefore, I quickly exited the living room and proceeded toward the back of the house into the only ground floor bedroom where my wife and friend were asleep in separate beds.

Looking out the window, I observed a small silver/grey saucer shaped craft with a glass type dome on top with a vapour trail behind it, the craft floating approximately 3 feet above the snowy ground at a distance of 20 feet from the window, heading toward a distant ravine 1/4 mile away where I lost sight as it dipped to lower elevation.

The craft was no larger than a Volkswagen vehicle, and completely silent. It must have been traveling approximately 30 mph. on it’s way to the ravine.

My emotions were mixed at that point, feeling in danger and yet amazed.

I related my observation to our friends that same morning at breakfast table, and they were not sure what to make of my story.

My wife and I hopped into the car after breakfast, but it would not start, even though the battery was strong and after some distributor adjustments, it started roughly and then normalized somewhat.

Halfway en-route to Sudbury, the car engine seized, being red hot in color like a tomato, although all the fluids were at their normal levels.

We abandoned the vehicle at the nearest gas station, and waited for the next Greyhound bus a few hours later.

I ended up selling the vehicle as junk to that same gas station owner, even though the vehicle was in decent shape otherwise.

I kind of attribute that mishap with the UFO passing so close to my vehicle the night before, not knowing what effects it may have done to it.

Another sighting I had in the mid 1970's north of Sudbury was of a large fiery yellow/orange globe the size of the sun travelling below the cloud ceiling from east to west at speeds in excess of 300 mph.

It was tracked by NORAD in Falconbridge and at other stations further west until intercepted by Michigan air force jets near Manitoba, when its trajectory changed from horizontal to vertical flight in a 90 degree turn toward outer space as it evaded the fighter planes' approach, shooting straight out of radar sight at speeds in excess of 15000 mph.

Thousands of Sudburians had seen that same globe in broad daylight as reported by the Sudbury Star newspaper.

Orange Lights Seen Looking Northwest From Noyac Bay Near Sag Harbor New York

Brian Vike's Favorite Cases.

Date:  August 20, 2011

Time:  Evening.

Saw them tonight looking northwest from Noyac Bay Near Sag Harbor NY. Very odd formation of orange lights flying a pattern, appearing one after the other down low to the left far away and turning east and climbing steeply in a line left to right across sky with groups within in the climbing line changing patterns.

Then turning north and disappearing. Thought at first was air national guard out of Westhampton doing training, but then realized it was too odd. I am a pilot. This did not make sense. Whose flights are these? Who flies with orange lights on the nose?

Thank you to the witness for the report.

Orange Lights Observed Over Bracelet Bay Gower Peninsula South Wales UK

Brian Vike's Favorite Cases.

Date:  November 5, 2011

Time:  Evening.

Hi there, as I was at Bracelet Bay with my girlfriend (evening of 5th November), and we had to wait for the bus homewards, we saw, for sure 5 times, orange lights. They seemed to appear from the north, traveling towards sea (south). My guess was they flew above Gower, Southwest Wales-UK.

The lights were orange, not really bright, but constant (no flashing). At first we thought they were fireworks due to the remembrance day fireworks or fighter jets with afterburner on. I’m no expert in aviation, but I do know that planes have bright red, and flashing white lights.

Also the light traveled amongst a steady and linear path, which fireworks never do (curved path). Three of the lights traveled at the same path with intervals of say 5 minutes. The other two were lower on the horizon. The lights faded like, in a fraction of a second, as if they switched off.

Our location was Bracelet Bay. We sat on the parking lot of the restaurant at Mumbles lighthouse, and we looked westwards.

My girlfriend, living in Skewen (Wales), reminded me about the lights this morning, and mentioned she saw the same type of light from her bedroom window (eastbound, looking from Skewen towards Port Talbot) She said the light traveled the same direction, same colour, linear path and vanished after say half a minute.

She said, if you saw it you would be sure it wasn’t fireworks at all. Of course it could be some sort of jet plane (my first thought)but we don’t know if there’s any base around the area.

I’m not saying it was an UFO in a way of spacecraft, but I’m sure it wasn’t fireworks, and for a plane it looked to odd, I mean in the dark one can make out the lights, and they don’t. switch off al in the sudden (my guess).

Hope it was detailed enough, at least it amazed us a bit while we waited for the bus. Fireworks were up here and there, so we had our eyes fixed on the sky. Cheers.

Thank you to the witness for the report.

Object With Orange And Gold Flames Over Richards Bay South Africa

Brian Vike's Favorite Cases.

Date:  December 10, 2011

Time:  Evening.

Hi Brian, hope you are well, yesterday I was luck enough to see something incredible. I was on my balcony and saw about 8 lights flash across the sky, it was a bit scary at first, but was something I've never seen before.

I believe they want to come down and communicate. Then tonight my manager down in Richards Bay sitting at the harbour saw a strange light hovering above the harbour.

Where are you based, I'd love to meet and discuss this because they getting more and more and closer and closer. Regards.

Additional Information:

Hi Brian, Yeah it is amazing. Richards Bay is in South Africa, he said he saw 6 at the same time. The lights I saw were for about 3 seconds and no sound. Was bright orange. Weather was a bit overcast. Looked almost like orange and gold flames.

I'm so interested in what's going on and the amount of sightings.

Hope you having a good evening.

Thank you to the witness for the report.

Loud Cracking/Roaring Noise Coming From Massive Glowing Blue Cigar Shaped Object Over Hervey Bay Queensland Australia

Brian Vike's Favorite Cases.

Date:  May/June 2006

Time:  Approxamtlty 10:30 p.m.

Hey there, how's it going? I just decided to watch this new show on OLN, the "UFO Hunters",  even though I haven't paid much attention to the show in the past and I still don't, but I've shared the same experience you had mentioned yourself and I figured I'd just open my laptop up and see if I could find any information on what I saw, or if I could find anyone else who had seen the same thing.

Now this all took place in may/June 2006. I've never used the internet then like I do now, so this is why I'm emailing you. I flew to Sydney, Australia, to where I met my wife and we prepared to set off for a journey we knew we'd only see probably once in our lifetime.

We stayed in Sydney for about a week, travelled 13 hours north to a place called Byron Bay where we stayed for about 2 weeks. Our next stop was a few more hours north to a small town called Hervey Bay where we had stayed and worked for a couple months to build our bank accounts up for the next move further up the east coast.

It was about 10:30 p.m. and we just shared a pizza and decided to go for a walk to town just to see the night life etc.. We heard this very loud cracking/roaring noise almost like a jet would sound when it passed at high speed, but the noise didn't just come and go, it roared in the distance.

We looked behind us, and in the sky we seen this massive "cigar" shaped object that was glowing bright bright blue and was travelling far faster than any plane I've ever seen before. The light the object was giving off definitely lit the whole sky, and the town below, and we could clearly see way out into the ocean as it was passing.

It wasn't just blue and glowing, it had a tail of colors coming off the back that was easily 2 times longer than the cigar shaped object itself. Immediately I was looking around for people to share the experience with, so we weren't alone with it, but we were the only ones around.

We only seen the object for 15-20 seconds before it swept past the sky and completely vanished. If I was to say how far this was away from us, it was a good 50-60km+ away and I'd have to say it was at least 1500+ feet in the air. One thing that was consistent though, it wasn't heading "down to earth", it made it’s way from one end of the sky to the other, south to north and it had a very consistent speed that didn't change, and the sound didn't change until it was out of sight.

That's really all I got to say about it. Not sure if it was a meteor, or what it was, we were excited about seeing it, but also curious as to why no one else in the town had seen it and we spent 3 months in that town.

Your write up was the first I read, and I'm happy to reply to it.

Any more questions just ask me. I'm from Canada, B.C. if you have any pictures you've saved from your experience, please forward them to me.

Look forward to hearing from you to see how close we are in experiences. Thanks.

Brian Vike's Note: The witness here believed it was myself who witnessed something the same as him, but the report he read was sent into me from someone else who seen something similar.

Bright Round Glowing Orange Ball Moves Across The Sky Over Grand Bay New Brunswick

Brian Vike's Favorite Cases.

Date:  September 3, 2011

Time:  Approxamtlty 10:30 p.m.

I was using Google, to see if anyone had come across the same thing my mother had seen. I saw your post, and it was for the same date, and sounded exactly like what she had seen, so she emailed me and asked me to give you this description.

It was around 10:30 at night, my friend called to say get outside and look up into the sky. The object was perfectly round, glowing ball of what looked like bright yellow center and glowed orange as it got to the outside edges and definitely moving in an east to west direction from where we are.

I had enough time to go back into the house and put on some clothes since I was just out in my t-shirt. It was like watching the sun move across the night sky, but lower.

My husband and I have never seen anything like this before and we are in our 50’s!

Additional Information:

Oh I’m so sorry, it was in Grand Bay New Brunswick.

This all started after September 3rd, 2011 (I may have the dates wrong). My friend and I were on her deck having a smoke, when we noticed a white ball of light flash really bright, and then move across the sky, we new right away it wasn't a plane. It shot up and then across the sky like a shooting star, but then stopped.

It moved closer and closer, until we noticed three lights, that stopped long enough for us to think, oh crap what do we do, and then it was gone! After that, we saw a few others hover and take off. The next day we searched YouTube and found what we had seen in NYC.

My friend and I have seen many more strange things in the sky, fire balls, electric blue flashes and glowing red balls. I started telling my parents to just look for 30 minuets a night and they would see something. Finally they did and now I don't sound crazy.

Have you seen and heard lots, I have researched lots, and read lots and seen so many videos. I never believed in any of this until this year, and now I’m addicted to it, and would love to here your take on it all. Thanks.

Thank you to the witness for the report.

Bright Orange Light Over Thunder Bay Ontario Canada

Brian Vike's Favorite Cases.

Date:  August 2, 2011

Time:  11:00 p.m.

My daughter and I were going to the car when she looked up and said "mom, what's that?" It was a bright slow moving light in the sky that made absolutely no sound. The street was quiet with no traffic.

The bright orange light seem to coming in our direction, until it stopped for about 2 minutes. We again tried to listen for any sound, but there was none.

We had seen a man walking by the parking lot and asked him if he sees the bright orange light in the sky, he replied he did, but not to take his word for it as he was "half in the bag."

I then seen a shooting star go by and all of a sudden the bright orange object started moving slowly away from us then picked up speed quickly then gone from our sight.

Bright Glowing Orange Balls Of Light Over Killiney Bay Dublin Ireland UK

Brian Vike's Favorite Cases.

Date:  September 10, 2011

Time:  9:35 p.m.

Number of witnesses: 1

Number of Objects: 6

Shape of Objects: Round orange balls of bright light.

Full Description of Event/Sighting: I was working security on a property in Killiney when I noticed 3 bright glowing orange balls in a triangular formation just below cloud level at about 2,000 feet traveling out to sea in an easterly direction. The wind was from the south and I could also see aircraft out over the sea traveling north heading for the Dublin airport through the broken cloud.

About 30 miles out so I had a good idea of the height of these orange balls as they disappeared into the cloud about 3 or 4 miles out. The whole thing lasted about 2 to 4 minutes. I was just about to turn back to the house when I spotted another 3 balls of the same orange light coming along parallel to the coast in a northerly direction, in roughly a l shaped formation moving silently and much lower than the first 3.

These were maybe 500 to 600 feet over the sea, maybe a bit lower as it was hard to tell. I was sure the train driver parked in the station a little below and to my left must have seen them too, they were hard to miss against the dark clouds above. They slowly moved north over the headland of Dalkey to my left as I faced east out to sea.

I could see these three lights for a good 8 to 10 minutes. Two disappeared behind the headland, but one remained in sight a while longer and seemed to slow and stayed over the headland (about two miles to my left) for couple more minutes and then rose vertically and disappeared into the cloud.

Gob smacked I stayed a while longer, but did not see them again. I had my laptop back at the house, so I tuned into ACT at Dublin airport to hear the controller ask a half dozen pilots on or near approach if they had encountered any "turbulence" on the way in.

Now as this was at least 20 plus minutes after I saw these ahem "lights". It struck me as a little odd as I could hear a couple of pilots chuckling as they said they! hadn’t. What can I say, weird !

Anybody else see this, please post as I would love to find out when and where.

Thank you to the witness for the report.

Around 9 Stationery Bright Orange Lights Over Honey Harbour Area Of Georgan Bay Ontario

Brian Vike's Favorite Cases.

Date:  August 4, 2011

Time:  10:30 p.m.

At least 9 stationery bright orange points of light suddenly appeared grouped together low over the horizon to the southeast. Some fading in and out and moving very slowly, 4 remained stationary and became even brighter, there formation reminded me of the 4 main stars in the bowl of the big dipper.

This amazing sight lasted approximately 3 minutes. I have never seen such an amazing sight before in my life. It was truly unusual. I called out to my wife and she to was witness this event. I did see a few boats heading directly in the direction of the formation, they must have seen them as well!

As suddenly as they appeared, approximately 3 minutes later they just disappeared just as we were scrambling for the camera.

I am a private pilot and stargazer, what we saw that night was totally unexplainable.

1970 UFO Bay Of Biscay Experience (Graphic)

Brian Vike's Favorite Cases.

Vike, being a retired art teacher, living in western Ohio, I am far removed from the events on the Bay of Biscay in 1970.

Yet the feelings I acquired then seem like they started yesterday.

The illustration comes very close to what appeared to me. Thank you.

Bay of Biscay Experience 1970

Amidships on a Destroyer there is low, flat, open space. The picture below shows, from an archive photo, the USS Dyess (DD-880). It was aboard this small craft that an incident occurred which will haunt me for the rest of my life.

From the front (bow), going toward the rear, there are two gun turrets. Behind those is a big complex of two towers, called the superstructure.

Immediately after that is a low, dark, sunken area. On that night in July, 1970, I sat alone above it on a set of steps, so that I was looking forward in the direction of the superstructure.

I couldn’t believe that I had this beautiful scene all to myself. Billions of stars and a brilliant full moon illuminated the calm, smooth ocean’s surface.

This setting was further enhanced by the balmy temperature. The absence of my shipmates was, at first, no concern.

Soon, however, I was confronted with something that would send me inside the nearest hatchway for cover.

Caption For Map Above: Position of ship near the West Coast of France as shown by black rectangle.

The first sensation was that of being frozen in time. I was relaxed, yet found I was unable to move.

Then there suddenly appeared on the deck below me, about twenty feet away, a glowing, truly luminous cloud.

It was silent and its edges were yellow-green wisps. Spherical in form and not solid, but gaseous, it swirled inside as it hovered above the steel-plated deck. In my dreamlike state I lost track of the minutes.

The neon blue-green apparition had materialized in an instant, but then began slowly to transform, and darken, as it shrank down from twelve feet in diameter. While doing so, its semi-transparent nature thickened and the edges became well-defined.

Any haziness was replaced by a strange figure, human in size. The deep cyan vision had a full body, head, arms, legs, hands and feet, while it began to dance about joyfully. A performance that seems like it was yesterday, I recall it with trepidation now, forty-two years later.

What began without warning vanished just as quickly, leaving me alone and mystified.

Above: An illustration of the situation as it appeared.

Although reconstructed more than four decades after the event, to me this is of no concern, because the memory is as fresh as last night.

Although I did move inside after experiencing this, it was not due to fear.

Actually, the contact gave me a feeling of comfort and knowing.

Silent UFO Hovers With Blinding Light Over Coast Guard Vessel In Mobile Bay Alabama

Brian Vike's Favorite Cases.

Date:  1959 or 1960

Time:  Evening (?)

I want to pass this story along to you that my sister told me. Her best guess on the year was 1959 or 1960. My father was chief engineer at WALA TV in Mobile, Alabama for 16 years.

Every day he would take lunch at a location next to the TV station known as the Princess House. One day while having lunch one of his friends from the Coast Guard told of a sighting that they had the night before.

It seems they were out in Mobile Bay doing their usual duties when a craft appeared above the boat with blinding light and hovered for some time. After which the craft shot off. He stated that it scared the crap out of them. He also stated that the craft made no noise at all.

This is all my sister remembers of the story. Maybe someone out there knows more.

Thank you to the gentleman for relating this sighting to me.

Two Ring Shaped UFO Skips Across The Bottom Of The Clouds Bay of Fundy Nova Scotia

Brian Vike's Favorite Cases.

Date:  July 5, 2007

Time:  10:00 p.m.

Location of Sighting: Bay of Fundy

Number of witnesses: 3
Number of objects: 2
Shape of objects: Round.

Brian Vike’s Note: Below the witnesses reported sighting I have added more to the event as I picked up the telephone and called the witness just after the person's email came in. This is some wild sighting, but darn interesting.

Full Description of event/sighting: Myself and 2 other witnesses were sitting in the back yard, as a huge cloud bank moved over our heads. This is weather pattern that usually happens 3-5 times a week. As we watched the clouds, the first of two objects flew directly over our heads.

It headed in a true north direction. This was followed by another object which headed more to the east of true north. These objects skimmed the underside of the cloud bank. the light omitted from the craft, was a camera flash intense white light. These objects traveled 10 times faster than any jet we have seen. There was no lightning in the area that evening.

Additional Information: Brian Vike’s telephone interview.

The witness and a couple of friends were sitting outside enjoying the evening when they noticed a cloud bank come rolling in, nothing unusual about this as the witness said the cloud bank rolls in every night and a while later the cloud bank usually dissipates. The witnesses all sat watching the cloud cover when they saw a light, a ring shaped object flying sideways coming out of the bottom of the cloud.

The witness said the ring shaped object would skip off one cloud and then another as it traveled along.

The fellow estimates the ring shaped objects was at approximately 1000 feet above the three people.

The man stated again that it looked exactly like a ring with light emitting off the ring itself. The witness said he was in air cadets and has flown in numerous military aircraft and this object was flying at a fast rate of speed, faster than a military jet aircraft. Also there was light trailing off of the strange object.

Brian Vike’s Note: Try to picture this event, the ring shaped object was "not" moving threw the cloud cover, it was "just" below the bottom part of the cloud cover and skipping off the bottom parts of the clouds.

The object traveled due north, now at this point of the strange event everyone started freaking out, jumping all over the place I am sure with a range of emotions after observing this unusual event. Between 30 seconds and one and a half minutes later, or following the ring shaped object passing overhead, another object exactly the same shape and size came into view in an easterly direction.

Also the witness mentioned that they see a bright orange orb type object fly every night across the bay and on different trajectories and it will even turn in the sky and travel off in a all together different direction.

Thank you to the witness for their report.

Witnesses Observe Ball Of Fire Hovering Over Hudson Bay Mountain Smithers British Columbia

Brian Vike's Favorite Cases.

Date:  1990s ?

Time:  Between 11:00 p.m. and 12:30 a.m.

I made a call to a business in Smithers, British Columbia as I was enquiring about a video program for my computer. I ended up talking to a fellow and we discussed the program and got onto talking about UFOs. This is when he told me he and his friends had witnessed a very strange object sitting over Hudson Bay Mountain one night some years back.

The witness said he and three friends were coming home from a party one evening, all of the guys were still in high school at the time. The man explained that it was a beautiful clear night and they were driving west past St Joseph's Church when the driver looked up onto Hudson Bay Mountain and could clearly see what appeared to be a giant fireball sitting right over top the mountain. The witness told me he looked away as he thought he was seeing things, but once again the man young man looked up and still saw the object over top the mountain.

He of course called out to his buddies to look at this strange sight and they stop the vehicle and got out to observe the object. As they all watched, it just sat hovering at approximately 200 feet above the tree line. Eventually it started moving, but at a very slow rate of speed. They were able to watch the object for about 2 minutes in total, and heard no sound. They felt if the object was that close they should have heard some sound if it had of been an aircraft.

He described the color as being orange, yellow and green and just a large ball of fire. The witness guessed the size to be that of a normal sized car. The object moved down the mountainside and towards the Twin Glacier at this slow travel. All of a sudden the object, whatever it was shot off and over the top of the mountain and was gone.

Thank you to the witness for the interesting report.

Bright Orange Lights Over English Bay Vancouver British Columbia

Date:  December 31, 2017
Time:  Approximately 1:00 a.m.

Last night at about 1:00 a.m., I saw what I thought to be 3 planes coming, as here is the flight path, like big bright orange stars, but they moved and stopped, stood still, so I thought helicopters but no sound.

I can hear them from that place. See them everyday like right now one is flying in the same area.

They came up from the west flew north for a bit towards English Bay and then south back to the same spot for a bit and then disappeared west into the clouds. Any ideas?

Thank you to the witness for their report.
