Orange Light Makes A Zig Zag Pattern Over Red Deer Alberta

Date:  January 1, 2012
Time:  Approx: 12:30 a.m.

Also on New Years my girlfriend and I were coming home from a movie, and she said look there’s another one of those orange balls! So I looked and when we had to stop at a red light.

I watched it for half a minute, it did a zig zag pattern and disappeared. That was at about 12:30 a.m. also in Red Deer, Alberta.

Bright Coloured Object Flying In A Zig Zag Towards Toronto

Date: December 31, 2010
Time: Approx: 11:30 p.m.

On December 31, 2010 at approximately 11:30pm my wife and I were returning home from some friends. We were not drinking. The sky was clear. We saw a bright coloured object displaying red/pink/yellow colours, moving across the sky faster than a jet/plane but not as fast as a shooting star.

There was no stream following it and it made no noise. It almost appeared that the top part appear "bubble" like which was red in colour. The object was moving across the night sky from the West moving Northeast towards Toronto.

It moved fast and at one point made a slight "zig-zag" movement and continued on. It gradually moved out of sight and as we went in the house and looked out in the backyard, we could no longer see it. We were looking at the object for approximately 1 1/2 minutes.

If you have seen anything like this in the same area please be kind enough to contact Brian Vike at: sighting@telus.net with the details of your sighting. All personal information is kept confidential.

Edmonton, Alberta Bright Object Makes A Smooth Zig-Zag Motion

Posted: October 31, 2008

Date: October 27, 2008
Time: Approx: 7:40 a.m.

Good morning Brian, I hope your weekend was relaxing and enjoyable for you! I have a new experience to share with you! It isn't that exciting really, but it is similar to several stories I've read here on the site, so I thought I should submit mine too. Here it goes.

This morning (Monday, Oct. 27, 08) at around 7:40 AM, about 45 minutes before full sunrise, though the sky was brightening relatively quickly and there was a handful of bright stars/planets to be seen, I saw out my back (South-southwest facing) windows a bright light in the sky. This light was brighter than any other star or planet I could see at the time, and moving from west to east across northern Edmonton, Alberta.

The light was very bright, and there were no blinking lights with it. It had a smooth zig-zag to it's flight, like long curves similar to a slalom skier going across the sky. After watching it for about 90 seconds there was a small flash located significantly behind it, which was slightly less bright than the light itself. Given how fast the light was moving and it's apparent altitude, the flash could have been a couple hundred meters behind the light. It almost seemed like a flare but it was gone much too quickly for that to be it. I opened the back door to listen but couldn't distinguish any noise from it over the general din of the city. I then moved to the front window and watched it continue on Westward until I couldn't see it anymore.

I checked "Heavens Above" to see where the International Space Station was, and it showed the ISS was heading from North West to South East and was near the Atlantic. I've seen satellites and the ISS before. This light seemed smaller than the ISS but about as bright, and much bigger and brighter than satellites. I don't think it was the ISS because the direction is wrong, and I don't think the ISS can change directions as rapidly as this light was. Furthermore, there was a plane flying at high altitude in the sky at the time, and was on a flight path to cross over the light's path in a minute or so. I was able to clearly see the blinking lights on the plane at that higher altitude, and that the plane wasn't reflecting enough light from the rising Sun to make it very bright. The light was much brighter than the plane and had no blinking lights at all. Finally, I've seen individual meteors and meteor showers, and can recognize one when I see it. The light lasted nearly 3 minutes that I could see, which at that time I lost in the brightness of the rising Sun.

It was an odd thing to see, and it's movement is what convinced me to write in. The zig-zags were very smooth and seemed intentional. Thanks!

Thank you to the witness for their report.

Vancouver, British Columbia UFO Makes A Sharp Zig Zag Maneuver

Posted: June 29, 2008

Date: June 29, 2008
Time: After Midnight

Hello, Last night I was watching the stars and enjoying a cigar on my 6th floor balcony in Vancouver, B.C. A helicopter got my attention as it had a search light on near English Bay beach, so I got my Hi8 video camera out and shot a bit.

I kept the camera with me and whenever I saw a satellite fly overhead I would tape it. I also taped a bit of the planet Jupiter, low to the east.

At about a minute or two after midnight, June 29/08, I saw a slow moving satellite to the south. I rolled my camera on it. I had a clear shot of it, with a star centered still in the frame. It seemed to speed up and then disappeared.

Today when I watched the footage, I was surprised to see, that what I thought was a satellite, did a sharp zig zag as it approached the position of the "still" centered star and then sped up a bit and seemed to fade off to a higher orbit and disappeared.

I am now going to try to get, the video copied onto a file that I can e-mail and burn a DVD of. The sighting is about 10 seconds in length and quite clear. It now makes me wonder about some of the other "satellites" I have seen that seem to vanish or grow very dim. I used to just take it for granted, that it was the satellite losing sunlight to reflect. Regards.

Thank you to the witness for the report, and I have spoken to the man on the telephone today and he will be providing video footage of what he saw.
