Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan Fireball/Meteor Causes Loud Boom

Posted: October 30, 2008

Date: October 30, 2008
Time: 0300 hrs

Location of Sighting: Moose Jaw.
Number of witnesses: 1
Number of objects: 1
Shape of objects: Fireball with long tail.

HBCC UFO Research Note: I am very interested in hearing from anyone residing in Saskatchewan who may have heard the loud boom or seen the Fireball/meteor that passed overhead in the wee hours on October 30, 2008. Please contact Brian Vike at hbccufo@telus.net or through my website at http://www.hbccufo.org Thank you so much, Brian. Also I should make note that in Alberta loud sounds have been heard and they were so bad that they rattles the windows in peoples homes.

Full Description of event/sighting: Woken up by cat hissing at nothing. Looking out the window there was a very large fireball (about the size of a dime/nickel) that was traveling downwards from north west to north east. All of a sudden there was a large boom sound and then the electricity went out through a large part of the town, it stayed out for a couple of hours.

Thank you to the witness for their report.

Roche Lake Coquihalla Area British Columbia Meteor Sighting

Posted: August 20, 2008

Date: June 14, 2008
Time: Late Evening.

HBCC UFO Research Note: If anyone else observed this meteor on June 14, 2008 would you please be kind enough to file a report to Brian Vike - Director of HBCC UFO Research at hbccufo@telus.net Thank you.

F.Y.I. - Hello. There were at least 6 of us that witnessed a meteorite on June 14th 2008, which went behind the trees and looked like it landed in the mountains in the Coquihalla area. We were watching from the campsite at Roche Lake. It was bright white with sparkly green, pink and purple particles coming off it's tail. It was amazing! I would love to go back to our location when we saw the meteorite to see if we could pinpoint where it went down. I'm sure between the 6 of us that saw it, we could probably get close. We're going back next June so hopefully we can do that then.

Thank you to the witness for their report.

Minden, Ontario A Meteor Shaped Object With Yellow Tail Following

Posted: July 10, 2008

Date: June 30, 2008
Time: Approx: 11:45 p.m.

Myself and 7 others also saw a meteor shaped object June 30 at 11:45 ish in Minden, Ontario when out for a boat cruise on Gull Lake. We saw a large green glowing ball shape seen for about 10 seconds, low in the sky travelling from east to west with a long yellow tail that left a streak in the sky for an hour plus. Beautiful and much more colorful, longer lasting and larger than the usually viewed shooting star. Would love to hear from any astronomers who know what this was.

Thank you to the witness for their report.

Belmore, Ontario Meteor - Round Ball With Large Tail

Posted: July 6, 2008

Date: June 30, 2008
Time: 11:44 p.m.

Location of Sighting: Belmore, ON.
Number of witnesses: 2
Number of objects: 1
Shape of objects: Meteor (Round Ball with large tail).

Full Description of event/sighting: My friend and I were sitting at the campfire and admiring the amount of stars out and the clarity of the sky when I said, "Holy Crap" and so than she looked up but she only caught the tail. I watched the ball which appeared white and glowing bright with a huge streaming tail behind it. The tail was yellowish green. When it came the closest visible I could even hear like a singeing...umm whistling sound than it disappeared behind the pine trees but I stood on the picnic table and could see it still glow for another second or two. I read another story on this sight that I believe was the exact same and I am so happy that someone else saw it because it really creeped us out! And they should not worry they were not seeing things!

Thank you to the witness for their report.

Qualicum Beach, British Columbia A Brilliant Turquoise/Green Meteor

Posted: June 18, 2008

Date: June 14, 2008
Time: 11:41 p.m.

I saw this and with luck was almost looking directly at it when it started. It occurred at 23:41 hrs and was a particularly long burn as it lasted about 4 to 5 seconds. My location is Qualicum Beach and it entered at approximately a 45 degree angle heading almost due north about 30 degrees above the horizon. It burned a brilliant turquoise/green and broke into 3 pieces while leaving a long glowing trail. This sucker was bright! It was the most spectacular meteor fall I have ever seen in my years of stargazing.

Thank you to the witness for their report.

Mid Vancouver Island, British Columbia Fireball/Meteor A Brilliant Turquoise Color

Posted: June 16, 2008

Date: June 14, 2008
Time: Between 11:30 p.m. and midnight .

Hi Brian! I also (along with a couple of witnesses) saw the Fireball at approx. between 11:30 and midnight Sat. the 14th of June. It appeared to be very large and heading in a northward direction. The color was a brilliant turquoise color with a streaming (2 or 3) part tail. I viewed it through an opening in some trees while in a friends backyard from the mid Vancouver Island area. I have never seen one this color or size before, it was beautiful. We were joking about the fact it looked like it would have landed very close to us, judging by the size, and its trajectory path. We heard no sound at all.

Thank you to the witness for the good report.

Over Telkwa/Smithers British Columbia A Possible Meteor Sighting

Posted: April 19, 2008

Date: April 19, 2008
Time: Approx: 2:35 a.m.

If anyone else in the Smithers, Telkwa, Houston, etc witnessed the object would you please contact Brian Vike at hbccufo@telus.net with the details of your sighting.

At about 2:35 a.m. Saturday morning I was sitting on my couch on our first floor, looking out the window, wondering if it was getting windy outside and I saw a huge ball of what looked like orange - yellow fire streaking downwards in a slight arc north towards the Babine Mountain Range. We live on the top of a hill on the outskirts of Telkwa. It looked like it was going from southwest to north. It seemed like only five seconds that it was in the sky. I couldn't believe my eyes. I have never seen anything like it. I was fully awake,(and now cannot get back to sleep!) having brought our new puppy inside about an hour earlier due to him being uncomfortable in his dog house. I am wondering if there have been other sightings this morning.

Additional Information:

I would like to hear any updates or other possible meteor sightings. I have never seen anything like it and because it was so big and colorful, going so fast, maybe someone else awake at this time may have spotted it too. At the time, now thinking about it, I did hear a roaring which prompted me to look out the window to see if there was a windstorm , and then I thought it might be the wood burning fireplace. Seconds later is when I saw the fireball which was slightly smaller than what the moon size is to my eye.

Thank you to the witness for the report.

Queen Elizabeth Driveway Ottawa, Ontario Fast Horizontal Moving Light

Posted: April 18, 2008

Date: December 24, 2007
Time: Approx: 11:00 p.m.

Location of Sighting: Queen Elizabeth Driveway.
Number of witnesses: 1
Number of objects: 1
Shape of objects: Bright ball of light.

Full Description of event/sighting: We were returning home from a Christmas Eve celebration around 11:00 pm on a clear and dark night. We were driving north along the Queen Elizabeth drive, alongside the Rideau Canal. I looked across the canal and saw an incredibly bright light moving horizontally across the sky. The "sighting" lasted about 2 seconds. The best comparison I can give is seeing a shooting star. For those who have had the good fortune to see a shooting star, you know that it seems quite high in the sky and seems to be falling downwards with a bright tail, usually lasting only a moment. This was very different.

It appeared on the horizon, much lower than any aircraft would fly and travelled horizontally, not in a downward direction. It was intensely bright and though it was moving fast, it did seem -compared to seeing a shooting star, to last for several seconds. At first I thought "oh my God, a plane has just crashed" although there was no sound whatsoever, I also thought maybe some large meteorite may have fallen, although it was the horizontal direction of movement that was so weird. I listened to the news for a couple of days to hear other reports but did not hear anything. Whatever it was, it was very bright, very low and very fast. Anybody else in Ottawa see anything similar in late December 2007 ?

Thank you to the witness for their report.

Object Blasts Through The B.C. Sky - Seen From Kamloops to Dawson Creek

Posted: March 13, 2008

On March 13, 2008 at approx: 12:30 a.m. numerous eyewitnesses watched an amazing sight in the early morning sky. An object, orange in color slowly streaked through the sky with a trail following behind. Witness also mention that they were able to see debris coming off the main object and observing the debris in the tail. Since this covers such a large area of British Columbia I was hoping to hear from other folks who witnessed the same thing.

Please note that you personal information remains private when contacting me. You are welcome to write to Brian Vike, Director of HBCC UFO Research at hbccufo@telus.net with as much detail over the sighting as possible, everything helps.

Thank you, Brian Vike.

Kamloops, British Columbia Spectacular Meteor Sighting

Posted: March 13, 2008

Date: March 13, 2008
Time: Approx: 12:30 a.m.

I received an email from an eyewitness to the sighting, the fellow lives in Kamloops, British Columbia and he left his telephone number and I called straight away and had a nice conversation with him about the event. The witness had just finished sitting in his hot tub, got out and dried himself off and gone inside. He was looking out the picture windows looking towards the north and over the mountain rather low he observes this long orange streak in the sky. The man opened one of the windows and stuck his head out as he was amazed at what he was observing. His first thoughts were that of an airplane on fire. The object was traveling from the west to the east rather slowly, the witness watched the object for at least 10 to 15 seconds and he finally lost sight of it due to the mountain. The man also notes that if he had of spotted the object before he did, the length of time observing it would have been a little longer. It was moving approximately as slow as a jet aircraft. The object was large in size and had a tail/trail following behind it. Also what was noted, were bits of the object that were in the tail of it, the witness figured the pieces were burning up and breaking off the larger object. The object stayed almost horizontally, maybe dropping slightly in altitude.

Thank you to the witness for their report.

London, Ontario Green Meteor Sighting

Posted: March 7, 2008

Date: March 5, 2008
Time: 11:00 p.m.

Green meteor also seen

Hello to all. I'm in London, Ontario and on March 5 2008 around 11:00pm I also seen a green meteor ( for about 3 sec) traveling north and coming straight down towards the earth. It had a small head and a very short tail and it was also very low. I thought it came down just north of town but never heard any sound (crash). I always see shooting stars and meteors and I even seen a fireball, but this was the first time I ever saw anything with a vivid green color. It was breath taking, but left me feeling a little uneasy. I would love to know what this thing really was and is it a normal sighting.

I can be reached at ( email address removed) if anyone wants to reply or just have any questions.

Thank you to the witness for their report.

Grafton, Ontario Meteor Sighting

Posted: February 18, 2008

Date: February 12, 2008
Time: Approx: 6:00 a.m.

Good evening, I just wanted to share with you a meteor sighting I witnessed earlier this morning. I was on my way to work and at approximately 6:00a.m. I had arrived in Grafton, Ontario. I noticed something out of the corner of my eye and turned to see what it was. It was a well detailed meteor. I have seen many shooting stars, but never have I seen something quite like this. It moved slower than I would have imagined and seemed to stay in the sky forever. I will describe it as best as I can.

It had a black center, surrounding the center was a blue circle that tailed off into a bluish green tail and then towards the end, greenish yellow.

I was amazed at the colour and detail, it seemed so close. If I were to take a guess as to where it landed, I would have to say, maybe,1-2 kms out in Lake Ontario.

Thank you to the witness for their report.

Location of Sighting: Northeastern sky in London Ontario. Number of witnesses: 1 Number of objects: 1 Shape of objects: Fireball.

Full Description of event/sighting: I was sitting out on my balcony having a cigarette when out of nowhere a fireball appeared, heading north. It looked like a fireball, and only lasted for maybe 5 seconds, and then it disappeared. I then looked in the direction it was traveling, and saw it again, only much smaller, just like a normal star, except it was the same orange color. I saw it again for another 5 seconds roughly, and then it just faded away.

Thank you to the witness for their report.
