That Was No UFO Over Hamilton

Brian Vike's Favorite Cases.

Newspaper Article.

The strange lights in the night sky last weekend have a rather novel, down-to-earth explanation.

Not UFOs. Not northern lights, either.

It looks like it was Hamilton's own Chris Ecklund and his half-billion candlepower light system illuminating one of the city's 125 waterfalls that caused a ripple of UFO sightings from Stoney Creek to Dundas.

Witnesses reported eyewitness accounts of strange vertical lights in the sky over Dundas and Waterdown to The Vike Report, a British Columbia-based blog devoted to UFO sightings and the paranormal.

Brian Vike, who heads his own HBCC Centre for UFO Research, says on his blog that the lights were seen around 8 p.m. Friday.

That's exactly when Ecklund threw the switch to light up Chedoke Falls in the city's west end, part of his campaign to get Hamilton recognized as the City of Waterfalls and a pilot project to highlight the falls' beauty.

"We had all those lights bouncing off the ice and the water up into the sky. It was awesome and 8 p.m. was when we threw the switch.

"We had all the colours people saw: orange, red and the whole lot."

Vike, who lives in Houston, B.C., halfway between Terrace and Prince George, was not immediately available for comment.

One witness told Vike that he and five friends were out for a walk around 8 p.m. and saw vertical lights in the sky and watched them for 30 minutes, a throbbing orange one which faded in and out and a second red vertical one.

The witness, who Vike won't name in keeping with his confidentiality commitment on the site, says one light had a circle opening in it which looked like an eye.

Then the red lights faded away after five more minutes, he said.

Ecklund has also lit up Sherman Falls with blue spotlights, Tiffany Falls with 550 million candlepower of clear lights with no filters and Lower Westcliffe Falls.

The pictures and videos of the effects created are on his website: www.cityofwaterfalls.ca.

"There's no mystery," says Ecklund.

"It was just us."

Craft Making No Sound Observed In The Sky Over Alcona Ontario

Date:  Unknown
Time:  Unknown

I live in Innisfil. Alcona, Ontario to be exact. I was with my friend who is now my girlfriend. In Crossroads park and we noticed a craft with 3 lights, non blinking, no sound at all and not very high up either it was just coasting.

Two days later I seen another craft or same craft from my house. I told my brother and we both stared at this thing hovering in one spot and occasionally moving around.

The next night I seen the craft again floating around. I have not seen it since. Before people say it was plane, I’ll just say I love planes and helicopters and I know what they look like even in the dark. These were not planes or helicopters.

UFO Looked Rectangular No Lights And Silent Seen Over Leduc Alberta

Date:  March 23, 2015
Time:  Approximately 12:15 a.m.

So I saw something this past weekend and I cannot explain it. I came across your website while searching for similar sightings. Here is my account:

Monday March 23, 2015 approximately 12:15 a.m. (Sunday night). I took the dogs out to pee out the front door of our home in Leduc, AB, on the eastern edge of town.

I stood at the corner of our house and attached garage and looked up at the stars, while I waited.

Fairly clear night, the big dipper was perfectly centered in my line of sight between the house and front yard spruce trees. The sky was quite bright, light pollution and possibly slightly overcast.

As I gazed at the stars, something came in to my field of vision. It flew directly over our house from the West. As soon as I picked it up in my peripheral vision, I stared directly at it. It was moving very fast, but not unearthly fast.

It looked to be about 2,000-3,000 feet up. Difficult to say. Its trajectory was such that I could track it from above my house across the sky in front of our spruce trees. It looked rectangular in shape, no lights. Silent, or extremely quite.

Whatever its altitude, I could not hear any sound from it. Could not see wings or any obvious propulsion. It is difficult to come up with an accurate size, if it was indeed in the 2000' range, it looked to be the approximately size of a car. Maybe 15-20' long and 6-8' wide? Two lighter colored, maybe white, strips running the length of the object. One on each side.

Keeping with the approximately dimensions, maybe 1-2 feet wide, running the length of the object on the left and right hand side. Majority color was like a dark brown/rust color.

As it flew away from me towards the east, it seemed to veer slightly north as it, ironically, approached the flight path of one of the Edmonton Int'l airport runways. I lost sight at this point, blinded by the street lights and light pollution of the surrounding area. I could not see any of the shape vertically.

Seemed to be relatively flat, low profile. In total, I had a direct visual for approximately 5 seconds. Can't explain it.

Thought maybe some kind of UAV or drone, but no lights at night flying that close to an international airport and at that low of an altitude? And definitely did not see any kind of wings or propulsion system. I work in aviation and have not seen anything like it. It was a little eerie seeing something in the sky moving that fast and no sound coming from it.

Thank you to the witness for their report.

Loud Boom Shakes Home In Brampton Ontario (No Explanation)

Date:  October 6, 2012
Time:  Night time.

Dear Brian Vike, I live in Brampton, Ontario, Canada (near Toronto), on Saturday October 6th, 2012 I was in bed with my sleeping 22 month old son and I heard a very loud boom sound (best description a sonic boom), the widows rattled and I felt the house move.

It was such a strange feeling I had. I had no idea what it was. I was worried about my Mother (63 with MS), that she may have fallen in her bathroom and was hurt.

However, I knew that did not make any sense. Her falling could not have made the widows rattle and shake, nor the house move. I heard her a few minutes later moving around and then knew that I was correct. The sound was not her and she was okay.

The next morning while we were having breakfast my Mother asked if my son or I had fallen out of bed. I answered, "no, why?" She then told me about the loud boom she heard.

I told her that I heard it too and thought that it was her, but that didn't make any sense.

She interrupted me and told me that the walls of the house shook. I was somewhat surprised that she experienced the same thing as me.

My Mother then had me go check around the outside of the house, inside the house and in the garage for something very heavy that may have fallen to cause the noise. I found nothing out of place. Nothing had fallen, nothing was broken.

My Father, had been in Waterloo helping my brother finish his basement. When he got home my Mother told him this story. He then checked the entire house, just like I did earlier Sunday morning. He found nothing.

When he was finished and said that we may have heard a sonic boom. That was when I remembered hearing a sonic boom sound on the television a long time ago. I am sure that it was not a sonic boom. It was something else.

At that time, I remembered reading and hearing on the radio, Coast to Coast that other people in cities in the United States had experienced hearing and feeling extremely loud booms at night.

Tonight, I did a search on the internet for a sonic boom type sound in Brampton, Toronto, Mississauga and the GTA (Greater Toronto Area) on October 6th, 2012 and came up with nothing. I did however, find your website.

A little background about me;  I am 36 years old, recently separated from my abusive husband two months ago and in fantastic physical, mental and emotional health. No depression (the separation is a very good thing), I am not under a great deal of stress, etc. Sincerely.

If you have seen anything like this in the same area please be kind enough to contact Brian Vike at: sighting@telus.net with the details of your sighting. All personal information is kept confidential.

Also, please feel free to send in your sightings that have happened years ago. So many of these older sightings are nothing short of amazing.

That’s No UFO - It’s A Space Station

By Brenda Kossowan - Red Deer Advocate.

Published: July 07, 2010 6:25 AM

A UFO investigator says there is a perfectly logical explanation for a set of strange lights being reported in the night sky in Central Alberta.

A handful of people from the area, including one person from Blackfalds, have contacted him after seeing a bright light moving across the southern sky. Adding to the intrigue, a dimmer light was seen following it for awhile, as if attached, and then suddenly darting away.

UFO Reported Sightings Down No

Posted: November 18, 2008

HBCC UFO Research Note: Every now and then I come across someone's article, or a person may email me saying pretty much UFO sightings have slowed down over the years. Each time I read these comments I must say I have to shake my head and wonder what planet these folks are located on, as they sure are not from the planet Earth. It is actually frustrating to hear comments such as these as the folks are certainly not looking around the internet to see what is taking place and to see who is receiving what.

There are stacks of UFOligists all around the world who are receiving reports from people over what they have observed in the day or night sky.

Speaking just for myself here at HBCC UFO Research, sighting reports are certainly flowing in and there is the odd day that I might not have a report in my inbox. On other days, it is all I can do to keep up. So I thought I would give a small example that has showed up here in the way of a photo of a stack of reported sightings. Now this batch goes back to June of 2008 up until today, November 18, 2008. I have another stack of reports which had been packed up into a box and put away as I do run out of room in the small office. So I am not including in the photo 5 months worth of cases/reports.

I should mention that this stack of printed out sighting reports weighs a total of 25pounds.
