Full Description of Event/Sighting: Hi Brian, over the years I've sent you reports of strange objects that members of my family have seen in the sky. Some of the sightings go back as early as the 1920's, long before the average person had ever heard of UFO's or flying saucers.
Actually I find these "old" reports to have a validity that the more recent reports often lack. These reports are not coming from people who might have been influenced by books, TV shows or news reports. What they saw, they saw. No power of suggestion possible.
Well I now have another story from a friend who vividly remembers an event from her childhood. It was decades later before she became aware of flying saucers etc so they had no influence on what she had seen. I've known this friend for over 20 years and this is the first time she has felt comfortable in telling anyone about what she saw.
With her permission I will tell you her story.
It took place in the then (and still) very tiny Ontario town of Clandeboye. She does not remember the exact year, but thinks she would have been about 9 or 10 years old. That would make it in 1953 or 1954. Very clearly she remembers standing at her upstairs bedroom window late in the afternoon on a warm summer day. She was watching her mother and a neighbor talking in the yard below. When she looked away from them and looked upward slightly, she saw a very large light bulb shaped object sitting in the sky.
The narrow part of the "light bulb" was at the top. When I asked her the size she indicated it was close to the width of a business card held at arms length. That is actually quite a large object! I forgot to ask her the exact color, but got the impression it was not a brilliant white or silver, but closer to colorless. When she was describing the shape, she said it was like a clear glass light bulb with the bulb side down.
She looked at it for several minutes then called down to her mother, asking her "what is that funny looking thing in the sky?" Eventually her mother answered "probably just a plane", but had answered without even looking up. The neighbor did not look up either. She does not remember any more of the incident. She does not know how long she looked at it or when it went away. Nothing more was said about it in the family.
What she does know however, is that she never saw it again and has never seen anything even slightly similar since. She also has never forgotten. Sometimes she thinks about what she saw, but not too often. It makes her uneasy.
Do you have many reports on light bulb shaped objects? When she was telling me this it was a bit familiar in that it reminded me of something I might have heard a long time ago.
