Quesnel, British Columbia Dazzling Light Show

Posted: January 15, 2008

Date: February 13, 2006 Time: 11:00 p.m.

Hi all, what a night with my new friends. I could see them when I walked out from work at 11:00 pm and they were all over the skies again last night. Last night was a very clear night up until 1:00am and they seem to blend in with the stars and one thinks it's a star until you look closer. I am not sure what they are but there's intelligence in there. One was so close that I was a bit afraid coming home. That it would all of a sudden swoop down in front of my car and it felt like it was following me, so I flew home. Once I got home I ran inside and grabbed the camera, hoping they were close enough to take a picture, (took 5) but only the one had a red mark on it.

I was able to see them close enough with the binoculars and finally to see a shape. They were cone shaped, but with a flat bottom and not pointy. Their light is so bright it's like a welders light (with flashing lights). Anyway, I decided to flash the front lights and see what happened, not much but I kept doing it every 5 to 10 minutes or so. I'd flash them 5 to 10 times then run to the window and wave. Well after doing that 3 or 4 times, the "bright one" flashed a few times and came closer towards the house.

Then all of a sudden one of them that was close to the bright one went streaking across the sky ( about 20 or 30 yards or so I'd say) and fell straight down leaving a comet (streak) effect of gold or fiery sparkles. At that point I got a little nervous. I stopped for a while and gathered my nerves then kept waving every now and then. The bright one stayed for quite a while and I could see it get closer to the house then back away every now and then, but not much else after that. Then around 12:30 I noticed it was going further and further way. I then when I checked at 1:00am and they were all gone. The clouds had rolled in and I couldn't see any of them anywhere, "what a trip I tell you", wow!! This is my story and I'm sticking to it. I still can't believe I'm seeing this.

Thank you to the eye witness for the really interesting report.

Nanaimo, British Columbia Fireball/Meteor

Posted: January 15, 2008

Date: February 14, 2006 Time: Approximately 10:00 p.m.

I had typed "meteorites over Nanaimo, BC" in Google to see if anyone has reported seeing them recently. I found this article by a Nanaimo couple who saw something similar to what I've seen, with your contact info at the bottom.

I live at the south end of Nanaimo, and tonight was the fourth time I've seen a "fireball" in the night sky in the last couple of months. The one I saw tonight was at approximately 10:00pm, as I was outside having a smoke.

All four of the sightings were in the same area of the sky (to the right and below the Big Dipper), and all but one (which was traveling South/West) was traveling in a North/North East direction. Each sighting has lasted approximately 3 seconds. They appear as a yellow/orange glow, quite large, about the size of an eraser on a pencil at arms length. Sometimes I've seen a tail, but tonight I didn't. It is very cold and clear out tonight. The objects travel at a high rate of speed, and the three I saw that were traveling North disappeared at almost the same place in the sky, not far from where I first saw them. They seem to travel straight and then shoot up very quickly before they disappear.

Could these be meteorites that I'm seeing? They are definitely not planes, and way to low for satellites.

I would be very interested in hearing what you have to say on these occurrences, and if you have had similar reports recently from others living in the area. Sincerely.

Thank you to the witness for reporting what was observed.

Near Woodstock, Ontario An Intense Flash That Lasted 2 Seconds

Posted: January 15, 2008

Date: February 13, 2006 Time: Approx: 4:20 p.m.

Hi Brian, you seem real busy for February 6, 2006. I have a recent story to pass on to you, from a another fellow, who delivers at our place of work in Scarborough. On Monday,February 13, 2006 at approx: 4:20pm while on the ramp at Hwy 97 and the Hwy.401, near Woodstock. He witnessed about a quarter mile away, at about 200 feet max in altitude. An intense flash, that lasted 2 seconds, at about a size of a dime at arms length. He describes it as very bright,as this was still daylight. The outer part (rim) of the "circle" was bright white. Within the circle, a bright intense yellow colour. Now once again, this fellow questions of what he had witnessed. Funny that now he too, is skywatching his surroundings.

Thank you to the person for sending along this report.

South Of Burke Mtn, Port Coquitlam B.C. Lights Formed A Perfect Triangle

Posted: January 15, 2008

Date: February 16, 2006 Time: 04:35

West bound approx: 2000 feet. First seen just south of Burke Mountain. I first thought it was a small plane but then noticed it didn't have any strobe lights. When I checked through my binoculars could not see any green or white lights. Vehicle had one large yellowy/orange light in the front and a small red light on each corner of the rear, lights formed a perfect triangle. I had windows closed due to the temp. and could not hear if it made any noise. I watched it for approx: 30 sec., speed about the same as a small plane. Last seen over New Westminster.

Thank you to the witness for the report.

Three Lights Stationary Over Pitt Lake, British Columbia

Posted: January 15, 2008

Date: February 16, 2006 Time: 6:20 p.m.

Observed three lights hanging apparently motionless over Pitt Lake area. Checked with binoculars, All three lights were on one horizontal line. All appeared equal in size. Lights were Orange, White and Orange again. After a moment the lights started to move in my direction. I grabbed my camera and quickly set it for low light colour boost, I managed to get about ten to twenty seconds and then my phone started ringing. The object vanished while I answered the phone. Play back showed it to be changing colours, reds, purples, blues, oranges, yellows. Also showed several odd shapes when played one frame at a time.

Thank you to the witness for the report.

Surrey, British Columbia Observed Bright White Strobes

Posted: January 15, 2008

Date: February 16, 2006 Time: 6:35 p.m.

Observed bright white strobes just west of the green tower. Lights appeared to be at approx: 4000 feet and hanging almost stationary while at the same time jumping back and forth over quite a large area. Object appeared to be approx: 1/4 mile across. I checked with the binoculars but could not see any object, strobes were firing in pairs. Object began to slowly drift towards the east and I lost it behind the Green High-rise Tower across the street. Managed to get about thirty seconds of video.

Played back video but even with the low light boost on could not make out any real shape. I do see what look like either windows or square very dim lights on either side of the strobes. They appear to be very dim reds and blues. Just played back a bit more and now have one large rectangular light. Light went out after one or two frames, now can see a row of five rectangular coloured lights with an arch of small greeny blue lights over the top and more lights below giving the object sort of a saucer shape and that is just one set of lights. Checked several other strobes and they seem to have a sort of glow around the area went the blink out, nothing defined though.

Thank you to the witness for the report.
