UFO Sighting In Telkwa & Houston, B.C.
by Nicole Fitzgerald The Interior News Smithers, B.C. Wednesday, August 7, 2002 www.interior-news.com
On July 29, winding down from a day on his Telkwa farm, Gordon Stewart settled into his chair facing two bay windows, overlooking the valley for a late-night movie.
At 10:45 p.m., a bright light flashed by his field of vision, raising him from his chair, astonished at the peculiarity and speed of the sight. After walking onto the front porch for a clearer view, only silence filled the valley sky smudged with light cloud cover. He called the RCMP.
There was no air force activity in the area. he woke his wife Joanna, who had already turned in for the night without hearing or seeing anything. On sharing his description of the round, white light with a yellowish hue, he learned his wife had seen the same light in the same location a couple of months earlier.
"I didn't want to tell him because he'd think I was crazy," Joanne recounted. Earlier that evening at 10.20 p.m. in Houston, a Canfor employee stepped from a forklift to examine a phosphorescent like white ball of light with yellow undertones, which appeared to hover, before slowly crawling across the sky line. The worker called out to two fellow co-workers who caught sight of the glowing light, which grew a tail as it gained momentum.
The phenomenon gained speed towards Tweedsmuir Park and shot out of view over the horizon. "I called them over because I wanted proof that I saw something and that I wasn't crazy," the Canfor employee explained. Despite having two witnesses, the Canfor employee wished to remain anonymous. Despite his wife having seen the same phenomenon's, Stewart was relieved a similar sighting was reported the same day.
Stewart caught the tail end of a movie when he was startled from his chair by an unidentifiable round light streaking across the valley. Combined with his house being stationed at 3,000 feet - Smithers sits at approximately 1,750 feet - and large bay windows, Stewart has an ideal birds eye view of air traffic.
Crazy and UFO are often terms that go hand in hand when trying to determine an experience that appears to be out of this world.
Already this year, over 70 unidentifiable sightings have been reported in northern B.C. Only two days before the Telkwa/Houston sighting, an erratically moving, bright light was spotted in Prince George. Sightings in Prince Rupert and Port Simpson were reported the same day of Stewart's experience. The two days that followed it reports from Terrace were filed on a glowing, cigar-shaped craft and four multiple sightings of an unidentifiable light.
"There is so much going on here it's nuts", Houston B.C. Canada UFO researcher Brian Vike remarked. Vike suspects action in space is growing with the number of hits he receives on his UFO website. "Recently, I have been getting numerous hits," he said, "Everything from the National Defense Department to Federal Aviation". He also noted that open information transitions between himself and the National Department of Defense has since clammed up with the publishing of the recent sighting in Telkwa - where three women attested to seeing an unidentified object with bright lights.
"No one wants to say anything and I am kind of wondering why", He questioned. "Is the military running a project we are not aware of? Something has happened I just don't know what ... yet". Many of these speculated extraterrestrial occurrences have been explained away as meteorites, flying exercises, space debris and the result of power towers.
A recent space ship sighting in Smithers turned out to be the planets Jupiter and Venus. Stewart dismisses many of these suspicions in his case. He began by explaining that the object flew in a flat line unlike meteorite or space debris's falling arc pattern. Planes might be a credible explanation, but because no sound was detected and the size of the light - the size of a pick up truck from the distance he sat at - flew so low, a plane wasn't a logical solution in Stewart's mind.
According to Central Mountain Air, there were no late night flights except for a training run July 29. Northern Thunderbird training was up between 10:07 - 11:04, however, a Central Mountain Air spokesperson saw no connection between the occurrences. She speculated that the tiny Cessna 185 would not emit a bright light of that magnitude and its engines would be heard at a close proximity.
Although a comet spotted the same evening would solve Stewart's mystery, its glowing green light, arc-shaped flight and Hudson Bay Mountain location did not pair up with what he saw - leaving Stewart questioning, "What the heck was it?" For Stewart, the speed of the light was the most notable. "If you had blinked, you would have missed it, it was that fast," he said. He assessed the light reached faster than the speed of light at over 650 miles per hour. Stewart is well acquainted to gauging speed, he assessed, after driving dragsters that reached up to 200 miles per hour. As to whether he believes in another life force traveling through the universe, Stewart has always believed since reading space comic books as a kid, that people on earth weren't the only ones out here. "There's too much on earth not to disbelieve," he argued, noting other phenomenon's such as the Pyramids. "I think there was someone before us."
Despite Stewart's open mind towards other life forms, he talked himself through other possible explanations, but came to the same conclusion: "I knew I saw something out of the ordinary".
Although highly skeptical, the Canfor employee agreed his sighting was something more than an every day occurrence. "In my mind it looked like a meteorite," he comforted himself, but wavered as he turned the 20 second experience over in his mind. "But, it was like no meteorite I've ever seen. I've seen meteorite showers before, but they never looked anything like this. I really don't know what it was."
Below HBCC UFO Research Reports On This Case - 9 Witnesses Come Froward From Separate Areas.
Reports from each of the witnessed will be added as I type them up, so please check back often for updates on this case. I have interviewed most of the people, just working on getting everything in order.
What I am doing, is to write the reports and send them out as I go along. Below is the report from Mr. Gordon Stewart over the July 29, 2002 sighting in the Telkwa area. To my surprise I received a report from Mrs. Stewart as well, which was of a sighting she had two months prior to the July 29th sighting.
Please keep in mind this is only one of the witnesses for the July 29th sighting. There are 8 other witnesses to hear from, and I will be writing up each of their reports as time permits (I have a lot of reports other than this case to write up). But I will be keeping on it. Everyone has been interviewed, except for a small party who had already left Smithers heading back home. I have their phone numbers and will be contacting them within a few days.
So this first up, is from Mr. Gordon Stewart.
Houston, Quick, Telkwa & Smithers British Columbia
Date: July 29, 2002 Time: approx: 10:30 - 10:45 p.m.
In the following report there is mention of two names out of the 9 witnesses (Only one of these names - Mr. Stewart goes with the July 29th sighting, Mrs. Stewart has a separte report). Mr. Gordon Stewart is his real name, and the only reason I am placing his name to my report is due to the Interior Newspaper received permission from the witness to print the information, other wise I would have left the name out from my report. Although I had permission to use some of the other witnesses names, I choose not to place their personal information in my report, a policy HBCC UFO sticks to.
Location information - Gordon's farm: (Telkwa, British Columbia, Canada) - The witness owns 160 acres of farming land, treed with Spruce, Aspen and Pine in areas, with a good number of acres in Hay fields. This supports his 57 head of cattle. The Stewarts's home sits at 3,000 feet in elevation and over looks the Bulkley Valley and Telkwa mountain range in the distance. (Photos I took from Gordon's farm will be added to my report and will be seen on my website at a later date. Anyone wishing to post these reports to their web sites may request the photos and I will send them along). Gordon's farm is approx 6 kilometers off Highway #16. The next largest town is Smithers which is approx: 15 miles west from Telkwa, B.C. and has an airport for the surrounding areas.
I received a telephone call today (July 30, 2002) from a reporter (Nicole Fitzgerald) at the Smithers Interior Newspaper, Smithers, British Columbia asking if I had received a sighting reports from any of the residents from the Telkwa, B.C. area. I told Nicole nothing had come in so far. She went on to give me a brief description of what one witness (Gordon Stewart - a farmer and resident of the Telkwa area) had told her he seen at 10:45 p.m. on July 29, 2002. I asked her if it would be ok to get his contact information as I wanted to look into the matter and investigate the report. I received Gordon's contact information.
I telephoned Gordon and set up an interview with him at 8:00 a.m. on August 1, 2002 at his home in Telkwa, British Columbia. When I arrived at the gentleman's farm the first thing I noticed was the view, from their beautiful home and picture window they had an uninstructed view of the valley below, and across the valley the Telkwa Mountain range stood still snow capped. I knocked on the witnesses door and a tall well built man greeted me and invited in.
We discussed farming as we made out way through his home to the living room and kitchen area. Before sitting down for a coffee and discussing what he saw, Gordon took me into the living room and he sat down in his chair, pointed out the window moving his arm which indicated the location, and flight path of the object. Gordon mentioned that he was going to catch a late movie before retiring to bed. He said I never expected to have such an exciting night.
At this point Gordon's wife joined us both, and we all sat down at the kitchen table and he gave me a description of what he saw on July, 29, 2002.
It was exactly 10:45 p.m. on July, 29, 2002 when I was sitting watching a late movie when I saw a "HUGE", round white/yellowish object in color, traveling at approx: 600 miles per hour fly at low attitude (approx: 300 meters - altitude) through the Bulkley Valley below. From my distance, he said, the object was the approximately the size of a pickup truck, he went on to say the actual size, in his estimation if he had of been closer to it would have been closer to a school bus. The object traveled according to the witness, west to east. There was "no" sound at all, no reaction from his two dogs which were outside at the time the object passed by. I asked if there was a tail trailing it, he said no. It was completely round and very bright.
As I mentioned above, the Stewarts's farm sits approx: at a elevation of 3000 feet, and the Telkwa Mountain Range sits at approx: 3500 feet. The object was traveling below the top of the Telkwa range, and below the elevation the Stewart's farm sits. He also mentioned the object would have passed directly over top of Round Lake which can been seen 2 to 3 miles in the distance from the farm.
Gordon did step out onto his patio to look around, but the object had already departed from his sight.
He came back in and woke his wife (Joanna) and told her what he just witnessed. She for some reason wasn't really surprised. (I will explain below - very interesting!). Gordon made a call to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) to make a report of what he just witnessed, also wondering if anyone else had reported anything close to what he just saw. The RCMP told him they had not heard from anyone else. A Constable took the report by way of telephone. The next day Mr. Stewart telephoned the Smithers Interior Newspaper and talked with reporter Nicole Fitzgerald who requested a meeting with Gordon and took the interview. This is where I came into the picture, as Nicole had contacted me.
As I mentioned in the report from Gordon, his wife Joanna was not all that surprised. After Gordon explained what it was he just had seen, thinking his wife may not believe him, she spoke up and said from what you just told me, I seen a similar light two month prior to this sighting. She did not want to tell her husband because she thought he wouldn't believe her.
I asked Mrs. Stewart what she had witnessed, she went on to tell me she was laying in bed a wake with the drapes closed over when a "really bright white light" lit up the whole room. Joanna said it frightened her, but still got up slowly and approached the window carefully. She pulled over the side of the drapes and looked out to see a "HUGE" very bright light. As the object moved very slowly across their farm, it shone a beam of white light towards the ground behind their home in a large field. She started to lose sight of the object, so she moved from the bedroom to the living room and watched the object fly "slowly" across their field, across Boundary Road and onto their neighbors farm where she finally lost sight of it. She said the object moved completely in silence and went on to describe the beam of light as if someone held a flashlight upside down pointing downwards. Joanna said it was as if the sun was out, but within a circle on the ground. (Investigators Note: I received a report this year (2002) from a witness south of Burns Lake, a small farming community called Grassy Plains which is across Francois Lake.
This witness went on to tell me of a similar object which did exactly the same thing Joanna saw, or described. This may or may not have anything to do with one another, but both reports would be in the right time frame).
I sincerely thank Mr. & Mrs. Stewart for sharing the story with me, and taking the time to allow me in their home to discuss what it was they saw.
Report # 2 - Houston, British Columbia
Houston, Quick, Telkwa & Smithers - British Columbia
Date: July 29, 2002 Time: approx: 10:30 - 10:45 p.m.
On July 29, 2002 three Houston residents watched an object fly across night sky. (Investigators Note: Actually this worked out rather funny, as I had already heard about the sighting in Houston before I was contacted by Nicole, reporter for the Smithers Interior newspaper. I put it off as a meteor myself at the time, and to be honest did not give it another thought. I wasn't given much for information about what the fellows had seen, just a quick note to say, "I seen a bright meteor the other night". When I received a call from Nicole Fitzgerald asking if I had received any reports for July 29, 2002, I started thinking about what a witness had mentioned to me about his "meteor" sighting.
Location information - Houston British Columbia (my home) sits in the Bulkley Valley surrounded by mountains. To the west there is the Telkwa Mountain range, and south Morice Mountain and Mount Harry Davis to the north. It is a small town with a population of 2500 to 2600 people living within. We sit at an elevation of 587 meters. Employment opportunities in the area are with forestry, mining and tourism. Houston offers some of the best Steelhead fishing in the world. I area is covered by clean fresh lakes & rivers to fish from, hiking, camping, skiing etc... are great pass times in the area. Houston boosts having the worlds largest Fly Rod, which indeed it is at a length of 60 feet (1829.8 cm) and weighs approximately 800 pounds. the reel has a diameter of 36 inches, while the fly at the end of the line is some 21 inches long. Want to go fishing ? -:))) (couldn't help myself) !
I caught up with the Houston resident and asked him more questions about what it was "he" saw, to my surprise he told me that he wasn't the only one who saw the "meteor"? The witness said there were two other people with him at the time (co-workers). The gentleman told me they were at their place of employment, which is Canfor Sawmill - Houston Division a large very productive operation. I asked what time did they see this object - "meteor"? I was told at approximately at 10:20, but it could have been a little later he said. From what I was told, no one thought to look at their watches mainly due to them thinking what they were seeing was just a meteor, as spectacular as it was.
The Houston witness who first brought this to my attention said he was the first to notice what he and everyone else thought was a meteor. He looked up as a very bright white/yellowish colored, almost phosphorescent round object moved slowly through the night's sky. As the meteor (object) gained momentum it grew a short tail. This fellow was so amazed, surprised at the size and brightness of this thing, that he called to other co-workers. One was up sitting in a large forklift, while the other was close by. The point I would like to make is, the driver of the forklift had to open the door, and climb down from the machine to stand with the others fellows who were all watching this object. This took a few seconds. The total length of time the Canfor employees watched the object was close to 30 seconds and according to the fellows, dropping in altitude heading towards Tweedsmuir Park in a southwesterly direction.
(Investigators Note: When I looked into the "major" sighting which took place this year on February 1, 2002 when three married ladies on their way home to Houston, B.C. from a shopping trip in Smithers watched a "Giant" , well lit craft descend from the cloud cover to approximately 300 feet above tree top level and pass right over their car. This also took place in Telkwa, British Columbia. While I was looking for any information, trying to put the parts together over this sighting I found out that just a little south east of the bottom tip of "Tweedsmuir Park" there is a military testing ground at Anahim Lake which is used for low and high level flight testing. So when "Tweedsmuir Park" was mentioned again I started wondering if there could be a connection between the February 1, 2002 sighting and this sighting of July 29, 2002. I completely stumbled on to finding out that military exercises were taking place (early Fenruary) due to a flight I was on heading to Vancouver, B.C. for my dad's 80th birthday which was on February 6, 2002. The pilot of the Dash 8 aircraft came over the intercom system announcing that the aircraft was to make a slight detour in his flight plan due to military exercises taking place. My question is, would our government in joint connection with the U.S. government be holding secret tests that the public are not aware of ? Or is there "something" using this flight path, (meaning here in the pacific northwest). This of course I have no answers to.
Was the military in our area looking for something ?
After I started investigating, and talking with the witnesses, I started to hear rumors of military vehicles scouring the back roads in the Telkwa area. I was surprised to hear this news. I thought that maybe one or two people had seen someone's personal truck all painted up in military colors, as there is one around Houston. Well it turns out that there was a good number of folks who told me they seen military vehicles traveling towards Smithers from the Houston area on highway #16. The military vehicles were not all traveling together as in a convoy, but rather spread out along the highway. Now how many of these vehicles there were, I have no idea. Another report came from residents in Telkwa, a husband and wife were driving along the Telkwa High Road when they came across a large military truck, they had to pull way off the road to let this vehicle pass by. Reports from the Smithers area came in as well, so people were seeing them. I had stopped into the RCMP detachment to request information over the July 29, 2002 sighting. I also asked when I was there if he knew, or heard of any military exercises taking place around the areas. The officer said he was not aware of anything going on, but went on to say he has a friend, a Captain in the Rangers and they were planning an exercise for around the end of this month (August). These exercises would be taking place in the Stewart, British Columbia area, which is a long way from us here. The constable also said none of the other RCMP officers mentioned seeing anything like I ask about in the area.
Aircraft activity in the skies - Up ?
There is no doubt in my mind that something was going on, all a person would have to do was to watch the local mountains for helicopter's flying low back and worth. Small aircraft also went back and forth over the local mountains here around the Houston area. Even at night time, (which is very strange) as friends telephoned me to say, look out your window and sure enough, a small plane was over top of Mount Harry Davis traveling in a straight line, or it looked as if the plane was, then to turn around and fly back again, the aircraft kept repeating this over and over until it left in a westerly direction. It returned approx: 20 minutes later repeating itself. Even a Hercules transport showed up at the Smithers airport. I talked with the tower about this, and I was told by them that this aircraft was being used to fly supplies into a mining camp, in which they do. I just had to wonder when I heard that a Hercules transport landed in Smithers at the same time all this was taking place.
Investigators Note: I have lived in the area for a little over 20 years. We see a lot of helicopters flying low at times over the mountains. They carry either forestry, mining, fish and wildlife people doing their jobs. But over three days or so no one has ever seen so much aircraft activity as there had been. As I mentioned above, a lot of people were discussing it as it was out of place for the area. Matter of fact, I heard three large fixed wing aircraft fly overhead. The problem was it was rather overcast. But one did drop down and through the cloud cover and went out of sight very quickly behind Mount Harry Davis.
I walked in and picked up the telephone and called the Smithers airport tower and asked if there was any air traffic over Houston, and area. "I was told no"! So I have to ask, what did I see ? Clouds !
My visit to the RCMP detachment in Smithers B.C.
After I did an interview with the witness and I went to Smithers, I stopped into the Smithers RCMP detachment to enquire about the sighting report which was reported to them. I started to introduce myself, but the gal behind the counter beat me to it. She said "Oh your Brian". I laughed to myself. Mind you I wore my jacket with my logo on it, so I guess it wasn't hard to figure this out. I asked if it was possible to get the information from the RCMP's report that was made by Mr. Gordon Stewart. She asked me to wait while she went to talk with an officer, who came right out and I discussed with him what it was I was after. I told him I had already interviewed Mr. Stewart and had all the details, but wanted to check in with the RCMP to see if they may have had anything else to add. The constable went and grabbed the report, "but keeping the form away from my eyes", which is policy. He read over non personal information and had no more to add to the case.
Is this reported sighting from Smithers, British Columbia a possible connection to the military ?
I posted a sighting report for July 28 - 31, 2002 where three witnesses watched a strange sight indeed. They reported what they saw to the Smithers Interior Newspaper which in turn passed the information a long to me. Below I am re-posting the report with some comments made by myself.
Smithers, British Columbia, Canada
Date: approx: July 28 - 31, 2002 Time: Between 10:00 & 11:00 a.m. Daylight sighting:
(From the sounds of things, this sighting took place close to the July 29, 2002 sighting in Telkwa, Houston, Quick and Smithers, British Columbia. I hope to have the exact date from the third witness.)
There are three witnesses to this sighting in Smithers, B.C.. I have talked to two of the folks who watched the object, and waiting to hear from the third, and will update when I do. The first report below is from witness number #1:
I talked with a gentleman today, August 10, 2002 about a sighting which was reported to me and the Smithers Interior Newspaper. I asked of course what it was he had witnessed. This fellow is a logging contractor in the area and seems to be a very truthful man. He actually was very surprised and for the life of him, still can't figure out what it was he saw.
His description of the object: He said it looked like an oak barrel in shape and made of metal , he guessed the object was approx: 15 feet in height and 10 feet across. From his vantage point (approx: 2000 feet away - altitude). He said there were two projections sticking out from the center of the object, approx: three feet a part and darker in color away from the main body of the craft.
The fellow said it had quite a remarkable speed to it, in his estimation the craft was cursing at approx: 300 kilometers which was faster than the small aircraft they see in the area. Also he said there was no sound from the object and it did pass right overhead of him. It flew along side the Smithers airport heading in a southwesterly direction. He described the object as being metallic in color. And again said it was darker in the middle and rotating in the center.
Witness #2
A friend called me outside to look at something as she was very excited. The witness said she did not see it right away. She explained that she looked and looked around in the area where her friend was pointing, and went on to say it was like she had to get her eyes focused to see it. The object was at the right of the airport flying in a southwesterly direction. She said the object was diffidently round in shape and silver (metallic) in color. While they were watching this object, it up and disappeared instantly. I asked approximately what the size of the object may have been. She said it would have been close to the size of a normal wall clock at a approximate distance of a kilometer and a half away.
I asked this her the date the event took place, she said her friend (deleted by HBCC UFO) would know for sure. But she guesses it would have been around two weeks ago. (Investigators Note: If the time frame is correct, then the object they seen would have been right around the same time (July 29, 2002) in which 9 witnessed, in different locations watched a HUGE glowing object fly down the valley. She also said there no sound coming from the object.
-------
I telephoned the witness again and asked some question to clarify a couple of things I wanted answers for. Because of all the air traffic which was around the areas, and the description which was given to me by the witnesses, I wondered if this object might have something to do with the military. I had others mention this same idea to me. From the witnesses description, a barrel shaped object with two projections sticking out from the center of the object, would these possibly be propellers which were tuning in the center of this object ? If so, could this then be a military reconnaissance drone ? These are some of the questions in which I would like to know. After discussing the idea with the witness of the object being possibilty a military craft, he said it might just be. This fellow never thought what they all saw was anything out of this world, but something from here on earth.
From what all of the witnessed have told me, they figured that what they saw was going to crash into the ground, although know one had seen this take place.
In the next report I will be talking to the two witnesses from the Quick, British Columbia. I spent a little over two hours chatting with both witnesses, a retired school teacher and her son a Civil Engineer. Also her husband was their, a geologist for the government.
Reports Continued
What I am doing, is to write the reports and send them out as I go along. Below is the third report from two witnesses from Quick, British Columbia over the July 29, 2002 sighting.
Houston, Quick, Telkwa & Smithers - British Columbia
Report For Quick, British Columbia
Quick, British Columbia
Date: July 29, 2002 Time: approx: 10:50 p.m.
Location Information: Quick is a very small farming community which sits between Houston and Smithers British Columbia. It is nestled in the Bulkley Valley with mountain ranges running all around.
Today, August 10, 2002 I left my home to interview the next set of witnesses. The drive was going to take some 40 minutes, so I stopped at the service station and gassed up and left Houston at 2:00 p.m. heading west for Quick.. I finally arrived and turned off highway #16 onto the Quick East Road and drove along until I came to the witnesses home. I was greeted by both the wife and husband, and met their son a bit later. We walked along a beautiful stone path which led to a large patio where we sat to discuss what it was they saw.
The two witnesses who had the sighting were Mrs. (wife) and her son (deleted) The Mom is a retired school teacher and her son works as a Civil Engineer. Two very creditable witness, also very pleasant people. What I am going to do here is to name Mrs. or the wife witness number #1 and her son witness number #2. It will help me so I do not goof myself up.
Witness #1 went inside her home and came out with a journal she has been keeping for years. She writes down events which are important to her and this one event that took place on July 29, 2002 was one she will never forget.
Investigators Note: I also have photos of the area where the object was seen shooting across the sky in which I will post to my website once I get the film developed.
Their farm sits at an elevation of 530 meters and has a wide open view of the Telkwa Mountain Range and Chicken Mountain which sits slightly lower and in front of the range. The weather conditions were perfect as the sky was clear. The sun had already set in the west and Mom (witness) was going to meet her son who was over near their greenhouse. She walked up the driveway and turned onto a small dirt path holding her flash light watching the ground to see where she was walking. This lead to a wide opening in the field where the greenhouse was situated. Just as she reached this opening, she heard her son give out a loud yell. She immediately looked up and went to shine her light towards her son when she saw, a HUGE, bright, glowing white/yellowish, almost oval in shape object flying across the sky at a very low level. She said to me, "I couldn't move, I was in shock". I asked her about the shape of this object, as everyone else who reported to me said it was round. She said in her opinion the object was not quite round, but just off, meaning it was "slightly" oval (even walnut in shape). Or another thing she said, it would be like if you took a round circle and started to stretch it out.
The color has remained the same from all witnesses who reported the object. I asked witness #1 for an approximate size for this bright light. Mom (witness) struggled with this as she did not want to give any wrong information.. Her final conclusion as to the size would be, at arms length it was the size of her finger nail, but not across, it would have been length ways.
I asked where exactly it was seen. I wanted to know if it was below the horizon of the Telkwa Range. I was trying to get an idea for distance from the witnesses. Again she was not sure. You have to remember by the time the sighting took place it was already dark, and it is hard to see landmarks which would help determine exactly where the object would have been in relation to them and the distant mountains.
I looked around, and since I knew the path the object took, I thought I would try this. In the direction they lost sight of this object, there are three sets of trees. One group of large trees sat behind their greenhouse which sat on a ledge. Behind this group of trees there is a drop off, across from here it rises up again in elevation with another grouping of trees which rose above the set behind the greenhouse. Another grouping of timber sat higher up again. So I asked when she lost sighting of "it", what grouping of trees did the object fall behind? She said the last set for sure.. Now I asked, approximately how high above the last grouping of trees was the object. Mom (witness) said it was "just" above the timber, but as they were losing sight of it, the object would have been just a "hair' below the tops of the trees.
Now this gave me something to work with. The last stand of timber sits rather high up at a good distance from where they were standing, approximately 1/2 mile away (maye more), "but", this stand of timber is below the horizon of Chicken Mountain. So this object shot down the valley at approximately 1 1/2 miles away from them. It was also heading in a southwesterly direction at a quick pace, but slow enough as where the object took 5 to 6 seconds to cross their line of sight. Investigator Note: She did not see it right away, her son noticed it first and gave out a yell. She looked up and spotted it right away because of the intense brightness and size. My point is, 5 to 6 seconds is a fair bit of time when they had a short space to see the object due to trees blocking their view. Being so close to it, I asked what kind of sound did it make, they both said, none at all. "There was no noise coming from it". It also was on a slight angle they told me, but very slight. (This makes me wonder if it did hit the ground, as it was certainly very low at this point, if so where? Also this gives a lot of weight to folks in the area seeing the military vehicles and a lot of air traffic overhead).
Witness #1 said she waited around for a little while with her son watching the sky just in case something else went by, but nothing did so she went into the house and started calling around to authorities. She called the Smithers Airport who were no help to her, they knew nothing. She called the Vancouver International Airport, they knew nothing. She even call back east to Ottawa and talked with someone in an environment position, but I am sure they wouldn't know anything anyway. So in the morning witness #1 called the Smithers Interior newspaper to inform them of what she saw.
Witness #2 - Son. This is a brief description in which he gave to me. I am just going to summarize his statement as a lot of the same information is above in this report. It was very large, bright and lasted far longer than any meteor shower. Faster than a man-made object, but slower than a meteorite. There was "no" sound! It was below the horizon and moved away from until we lost sight of it behind the trees. A slight trajectory towards earth.
I spent a little over two hours with this friendly family and enjoyed this visit very much. What I found really nice about talking with them. We talked about the large fossil find, as they had a bunch of wonderful samples spread across a table outside. Of course I am interested in this as well. I can say this, our area holds a lot of treasures, and this one is a major find as the fossils cover a very large area, you can bend down and walk slowly along and fill a bucket. Everything is in perfect form. It was like I was standing at the beach and grabbing perfect calms. There are so many different types of marine life it isn't funny, so I wonder what other specimens the land holds. There is a good write up on this in one of the rock hound magazines.
One more report to come, it is a shorter version as it was a telephone interview. Then a final wrap up on the whole case as it sits for now. I know there is more to do on this, so I will be still making calls, and hoping others come forward if they did indeed see this object.
Take good care. Brian HBCC UFO Research
UFOs: To Be Or Not To Be
By Nicole Fitzgerald The Interior News
After an article on UFO sightings in Telkwa and Houston was published in last week's edition of The Interior News, reports on UFO sightings are flying in and credibity of the sightings are gaining momentum.
"I can't keep up with all that is going on, " said an excited and exhausted Houston UFO researcher Brian Vike.
A flurry of phone calls, on-site interviews and investigative research has left Vike with little sleep. Since the papers hit the stands, five witnesses came forward, claiming they saw the white ball of light Telkwa resident Gordon Stewart glimpsed on the evening of July 29.
After reading the paper, Quick teacher Dina Hanson called Stewart to share the details of her sighting, which she recorded in her journal the day after her experience. Her son, civic engineer Ryan Hanson also saw the object, which partially matched Stewarts's description.
The Hanson's sighting also took place July 29, five minutes earlier than Stewarts's sighting, traveling in a southwesterly direction from Quick towards Telkwa.
Both observations commented on the awe striking brightness and size of the light; the white and yellow hues and soundless travel at a speed, which exceeded the propulsion of a man-made object. Some of the differences between the two incidents was that Dina's light shape was an elongated circle opposed to Stewart's round one. Dina also noted a slight downward trajectory to her object, unlike Stewart's parallel flight pattern.
However, Ryan introduced that because the object was moving away from his mother and himself, the object may have just appeared to be dropping because of their perspective. Dina originally attributed her experience to a meteorite sighting, but after a phone call to a professor at the University of Northern B.C. revealed that meteorites produce sound, Dina is uncertain. "I am pretty cynical about things like UFO's, " she said. "But because there was no sound, I think it is remotely possible it was something else."
A Smithers family of late night hot tubbers comprised of both adults and children also contacted Stewart, sharing a similar story, adding that the light engaged in a series of loops. Smithers resident Dan Derbyshire was also added to the list in an unrelated sighting. However, he wanted to support those stumbling upon these unexplainable phenomenon's. "Sometimes people feel they are the only ones (that are seeing unusual sights)," Derbyshire said, "But I thought I'd let them know, they aren't alone."
Like many other UFO reports, the edges of reality expand with the number of incidents reported as viewers digest science fiction's fanciful imagination with tangible physical experiences. "It was not what I classify as a flying saucer," Derbyshire noted of the craft, which reminded him of a metallic 40-gallon barrel, heading towards Houston at an estimated 300 kilometers per hour. He stated he is a UFO believer, but dismissed his incident as an American flight exercise in one breath while pondering over why he heard no sound in another.
His experience neither fits H.G. Wells' War of The Worlds where aliens employ mass destruction in tea- cup-and-saucer shaped crafts nor did it fit with the characteristics of a man-made aircraft. Reality and rationale collided as he attempted to interpret what he saw. Unlike a plane, there were no wings on the ribbed object and its flight was soundless, Derbyshire noted. Unlike many UFO sightings, the object did not emanate a white glowing light nor assume the regular saucer form, he added.
Vike surmises Derbyshire's suspicions are correct after a series of phone calls attributed the sighting to a military reconnaissance drone. Although if this assessment is correct, many more questions arise about what is going on for Vike. "A secret military exercise?" Vike questioned. "Who knows". Vike's suspicions are rising as reports of military trucks are detected around Houston and the Telkwa High Road. Vike and his wife also saw and heard the hum of large turbo propellers of military type crafts flying over Houston on August 8. "Something is going on," Vike alleged. Despite the couple both seeing and hearing the two military crafts, the Smithers air tower told Vike there was no air activity in the Houston vicinity.
Stewart is heartened by the additional reports coming in. "(People) can't say I've lost my marbles," Stewart laughed. "There are too many people who have seen it. I am not the only one."
Thank you to everyone who contacted me and allowed me to interview them over what they witnessed. I would also like to point out that there is alot more to this story. The Life Network also came out and done a do*****entary on this as well.

Beauval, Saskatchewan A Gray Object In The Sky
Posted: December 28, 2007
Date: July 2002 Time: approx: 2:00 p.m. Day light sighting
I was walking south-west in the school field to a friends house. As I was walking i notice a gray object in the sky. I've seen satellites, planes and all that other stuff, but this object was very fast for a plane. It was going at an incredible speed west, then slowed down immediately and stopped. The object took off southwest at high speeds.
Thanks.
Thank you to the witness for the report.

Restoule Provincial Park, Ontario A Black Rectangular Shaped Object
Posted: December 28, 2007
Date: July 20, 2002 Time: approx: 11:00 p.m.
Although I have always enjoyed looking up into the night sky I've never seen anything that I would characterize as strange. Anything that looked unusual I was quite sceptical about and always looked for an earthly explanation. One occurrence although I was not able to explain away so easily. It happened while some friends and I were camping at Restoule Provincial Park in July of 2002. The time would have been about 11:00P.M or so. Five of us were at the waters edge shooting the breeze when one of us noticed something near the moon. As we all glanced up we noticed a black rectangular shaped object in close proximity to the moon.
It moved from the top left down and seemed to be in an orbit around the moon. As it descended in a circular motion around the moon it slowly reached the bottom portion and than drifted further off to the left and gradually disappeared. Strangely enough, this object actually appeared to be the same distance as the moon which would mean it had to be of incredible proportion. I cannot obviously confirm this though. The whole incident took place over a matter of 5 minutes or so as we were all able to comment on it several times. The size of the object in proportion to the moon would have been about 1/5 its radius. What it was I have no idea but we all have talked about it since. It never unnerved us at the time, it was simply a curiosity.
Thank you to the witness for the report.

Mount Roche de Boule in Hazelton, B. C. A Well Lit Object
Posted: December 28, 2007

Witness #1
It might be nothing, but during the last week of July 2002, myself and 2 others seen a bright almost white, well lit object in the sky going passed Mount Roche de Boule in Hazelton. What was weird about it, was that the object was bright and made no sound. It was approximately 10:50 in the evening, and the cloud ceiling was below the peak of the mountain that evening.
It was clearly seen going in a straight line thru the clouds, almost like it was heading towards the Smithers area. I thought it was weird because the clouds were so low that if it were a small plane you would see the red or green? flashing lights on the tail of the plane and hear the drone of a motor. Also what struck me was the speed in which the object was traveling, kinda fast for a small plane, and the cloud ceiling was also low. We'd seen it go almost under and thru the clouds and come out again, so the cloud ceiling could not have been that high, maybe 3000 feet?

I remember that the sky was still sort of pink we were celebrating the other guys birthday. It popped out from the left side of the mountains. (name deleted by HBCC UFO) noticed that it didn't make any noise I never thought anything of it till he mentioned it so we watched it fly towards the clouds which were low at about 1 mile up. I remember talking to the others about how low the clouds were. We watched it go into the clouds , it never came out the other side I figured that it disappeared. That is the best that I can remember.
Thank you to this witnesses for their reports.

Bella Bella, B.C. The Same Object On Two Consecutive Nights
Posted: December 28, 2007
July 2002 Time: ???
Another short description of a sighting which took place in this community. HBCC UFO was told not much on this event which was through a third party. A worker witnessed on two consecutive nights the same object flying (around) through the skies at where he was working, the camp worker brought his camera in hopes to catch a photo of the object, but nothing ever showed up again. From what I gather the object was very bright and flying at a low attitude.
(HBCC UFO - As I mentioned, not much on this report).
Thank you to the witness for the report.

Sayward, British Columbia 6 Independent Witness To An Amazing Sighting
Posted: December 28, 2007
HBCC UFO Research Note: With this report and in the media section which there are links to at the end of the report. You will find numerous questionnaires, drawings and newspaper articles.
Date: July 29, 2002 Time: 10:50 p.m.
Witness #1 (out of 6 witnesses)
On October 3, 2002 I had a telephone call from a lady who resides in Sayward, British Columbia which is located on the north eastern shore of Vancouver Island. It has about 1500 inhabitants and is approximately two hours south of Port Hardy, one hour north of Campbell River and four hours north of the provincial capital, Victoria.
She had read an article which I had written and which had been published in the North Island Gazette (in a letter to the editor) where I had asked residents to report any strange lights they may have seen recently in the area and which I could investigate.
I had heard from a colleague who informed me that a number of witnesses had reported seeing a large fireball over Sayward, B.C. on the evening of July 29, 2002.
The reason why I was so interested in hearing from these folks was due to the major sighting which took place here (Houston, Quick, Telkwa & Smithers, British Columbia) on the same evening where nine witnesses in four different communities watched an unforgettable event which seemed to be connected to the Sayward B.C sighting.
The lady went on to tell me that there was a total of six witnesses who she knew who had also observed the same thing. Her mother, aunt and three other women had witnessed this strange object, all within a kilometer from each other ... and to this day she can't figure out what it may have been.
When it was first observed she told me that she thought it was a meteor, but as it travelled along, she quickly changed her mind. She said after the event was over she logged on to the internet to seek help in trying to find an answer which might give some clue as to what she had seen.
She found a Meteorologist in Courtney, B.C. and wrote him a letter explaining what it was she had seen and heard. The gentleman told her that it was most likely a meteor, but she felt like she was getting the run around, and nothing basically came from her request for information. She'd been told to provide the latitude and longitude of her sighting .. and of course she was unable to do that. It was not her expertise !
However he did ask if he could send out a short questionnaire for her and the other witnesses to complete. She received the paperwork and forwarded it to the other ladies and they all filled it in. After the questionnaires were completed and collected, everyone's information was basically the same. Three of the witnesses drew pictures of their sighting.
Another trip to the internet (to my website) provided the witness with more accounts of the same sighting. A similar object had been seen further north (Bulkley Valley) on the same date .. much to her surprise. She immediately contacted me by telephone to tell me of her experience and how she thought it may have been the same object.
The only difference in all the reports is that this witness did hear noises and went on to say the other three ladies also heard the same sounds. She explained where she was standing, on her driveway and the object was "just there" in front of her "just" above the small mountain. I was told by this witness that it was the noise which had attracted her attention.
In her words she said the sound was like that of a "screecher" (fire cracker) which gave off a whistling noise. When she looked up, the first thing that was noted was a white tail. She also said the object looked as if it was hovering, moving really slowly. It also had a white core center and black coloring around the outside edges. It was also described as being covered with fire, or an orange color all the way around it.
As this was taking place, she heard a scream from her neighbours property behind her. Her comments to herself after hearing the screaming from the neighbors was, "exactly"!, meaning she was glad someone else saw it. After she lost sight of the object, a couple of minutes went by when her mother and aunty came driving up in their van. The witness got into the van and did not want to mention what she had just seen, but because it was such an amazing event she said to her mother and aunty you wouldn't believe what I just saw.
The two women just looked at her and said, "did you see what we've just seen"? She told them yes.
(HBCC UFO Investigators Note: I have talked to the two witnesses who were driving the van at the time and have their reports as well. They will be written up separately. Some of the witnesses work for the Provincial Emergency Program, so all are very credible and thought, at the time, that they were going to have to respond to crashed aircraft.
I asked the woman if she could give me a rough idea how far off the ground the object might have been, she turned and asked her boyfriend, he said their property was sitting about 100 feet above sea level, and the witness said the object was approximately 100 feet off the ground traveling horizontally. Her thoughts were that the object was going to go into the ocean. It seemed as if it had just crashed.
She explained that the Meteorologist she had contacted ... had said, in all his days...he has never heard of a meteor making any noise. When I asked the witness about the size of this object, she said it was "HUGE"!
I asked her what was the duration of the sighting and she replied that she had watched the object for approximately 3 to 4 seconds before she lost sight of it when the trees on her property blocked the view.
I will be receiving copies of the drawings made by the witnesses and also copies of the questionnaires and I will post them to my website as soon as I receive them.
Questionnaire from EMO Fireball Network Station Courtenay for the witnesses to fill out.

So far we have had no reports on this object. Can you or someone that observed this event answer a couple of questions?
1. How bright was it as compared to the Moon or the planet Venus? Venus should have been visible low in the NW around evening twilight.
2. You mentioned sound associated with this object. Was this sound simultaneous or occurring at the same time you saw the object or was it delayed sound?
3. Did you hear a sonic boom? If so, how long after you saw the fireball did it occur?
4. What part of the sky was it in?
5. Did it pass overhead?
6. What was the duration of the fireball?
7. Would you say it was fast, slow, etc.
8. Did it break-up or fragment or was it just a solid object?
Please answer these questions as best you can. Ask them of each person who saw the event and try not to influence them as to what they saw. Have them report their own impression of what they observed or heard.
If we get any more reports I will let you know. Thanks for reporting this to us.
Below is an email I received from the Sandia Bolide Detection Station EMO Courtenay, B.C in which explained the gentleman's thoughts on what he felt the residents of Sayward saw. I do thank this fellow for his input and answering my email.
Hello Brian:
Thanks for your email. This object was probably a bright meteor. You get all kinds of strange reports when these events occur as most people that see a bright fireball are surprised by it and are not skilled at making such observations. We often get reports that the meteor landed just behind my farmer Joe's barn. If you see a bright fireball, it is still quite high in the atmosphere and many kilometres from you. The last portion of the flight is not visible. Directions are not accurate either. It can be moving toward you or away from you and still draw the same path across the sky. It is better to ask the observer if it was going from left-to-right or right-to-left. This way we can determined if we have observers on both sides of the path. This is necessary if you want to do a triangulation and plot a possible fall area. You should see the reports we get from UFO buffs! If the fireball is near you, a sonic boom is often heard, sometime after the event. Perhaps several minutes later depending on how far away it is. Some people report simultaneous sounds but this is still not proven. It is probably too late to do anything about this event but we are still interested in hearing about them.
Best regards: Sandia Bolide Detection Station EMO Courtenay, B.C.
Sayward, British Columbia - Witness #2 (out of 6 witnesses)
I interviewed a very nice lady who took the time to explain what she had seen the night of July 29, 2002. In this report two sisters were in their vehicle when the passenger exclaimed "oh my goodness, what is that"? The driver then spotted the object, and thought both women thought it was an airliner about to crash. She said it was very "low" and thought it was on fire. She again stressed just how low it was from the ground. (Maybe 150 feet when she watched it pass by.)
I asked the witness if the object was traveling in a horizontal position, or had any slight angle to it. She said it could have been going straight, meaning flying horizontally. She stopped for a moment, and said to me, "I know this is going to sound strange, but it looked as if it was being operated by someone !" She said she didn't think it was falling down at all, but more like an airplane which was coming into an airport to land and almost following a straight path.
As both women are part of the Provincial Emergency Program they were concerned that they would be called out that night to deal with an impending crash. They rushed down to the wharf to see if there was any activity in the water, island or on the mainland which isn't far from Sayward across the ocean. They were expecting to see flames, debris and a crash scene and couldn't not believe that there was no sign of anything out of the ordinary.
The witness described the object as being dark. It looked like a big black cloud with the moon behind it. She said it was very long, like a cigar shaped object.
(HBCC UFO Note: She did not want to use the words "cigar shaped", as she had heard of these types of objects before. She preferred to compare it to the shape and size of the body of a 747 aircraft. Next day she drove past the same spot where the object had been seen previously and realized what she had seen had indeed been flying "very low". There had been no sound heard from the object because the women were traveling inside a vehicle at the time.
She stressed to me it did not look like it was falling, but being handled. (She said I don't know if that is the right word to use, but it looked as if it was coming in to land, and looked to her as if it was on fire.) She went on to say, I couldn't tell you what it was, but I sure know what I saw !
The witness also drew what she saw on paper, and after everyone was done, all the drawings were compared and found to be identical. Her sighting lasted for approx: 4 seconds. It was also moving very slow, and like she mentioned to me, she had seen many meteors in her life, and this was no meteor.
Thank you so much to this witness for sharing her experience with me. Sayward, British Columbia - Witness # 3
I talked with the third witness who gave a brief description of what she saw on July 29, 2002. She said it looked like a plane blowing up ! (A huge fireball of flame). She also told me that the object was very low to the ground, but it was hard to estimate the exact altitude. It was traveling straight along, not falling at an angle. This witness said she heard no sound coming from it. She described the color as being orange/yellow. It also had a short tail following behind. In her estimation she figured the total time of the sighting lasted between 5 to 8 seconds. She claims the object was traveling in a northerly direction.

Terrace, British Columbia A Cigar Maybe Pancake Shaped Object (Diagram)
Posted: December 28, 2007
Date: July 27, 2002 Time: 12:25 a.m.
Hello there Brian Vike, I am a 17 year old Terrace youth, my name is (name deleted). Before I discuss the odd event, I must tell you a few things about myself – I’m an open minded artistic soul who has a strong belief in science and have always pondered how fantastic it would be if beings from other parts of our universe would pay earth a visit. Although I always believed there had to be other life out there, I was never truly convinced that they had made contact with earth and its inhabitants until 2 nights ago, when I saw one the most unbelievable, life changing things of my life.
It was 12:25 am July 27 2002, when I discovered there was a moving light in the sky (southwest of Terrace - towards Prince Rupert at high elevation). At first I thought it was probably a plane because of the light movement. But as the object began moving further east and higher up into the sky (yet closer in view) I began to realize it was in fact a cigar /maybe pancake? shaped object with a flickering bright light moving around the side. I still wasn’t completely convinced until I noticed how eerily alien its maneuvers were. I am not a stupid person, that was not natural, not human technology, and unlike anything I had ever seen before. About 2 and half minutes after I had first seen it, it moved from a horizontal position to a diagonal position, but continued to slowly move in the sky frozen in the diagonal position. The light was still running up the side. Since I was walking home at the time on Lanfear road towards Lanfear Hill, I lost track of the object once I headed up the trail. But the last minute or so that I saw it, it began moving northwest, and its elevation began dropping, then I lost sight because trees on the trail obstructed my view. I would sincerely appreciate any feedback/advise to help me with this incredibly life changing experience. Thank you for your time, I hope you can make good use of this new information.
I attached a scan of the original rough details I jotted down the moment I got home.

Burnaby, British Columbia Small Chrome Colored Sphere
Posted: December 28, 2007
Date: Summer 2002 Time: Daytime
I also have another weird sighting that took place In the summer of 2002. I was talking to my girlfriend’s best friend about the strange white light that I saw in February 2002 that narrowly missed the plane over BCIT.
As we were talking in my backyard, I looked up into the eastern sky and saw what I thought was a bald eagle way, way, way up high in the bright blue, cloudless sky. It appeared to be following what I can only describe as a small chrome-colored sphere. They were so high up (I reckon too high even for a bald eagle) that I assumed it was a large bird like a bald eagle because it was dark colored, and at that amazing height a crow or raven wouldn’t have been as easy to see.
I ascertained that it was some kind of sphere as it reflected glistening sunlight off of its round sides sporadically. The crazy thing was that this was the only time the sphere was visible as it seemed to be cloaked with the color of the sky. It was like it was fading in and out of cloaking mode! It also seemed that either the eagle/bird was chasing the sphere, or perhaps the sphere was controlling the eagle/bird.
So as I was passing on my UFO story to my girlfriend’s best friend, here I was looking at another would-be UFO!
Thank you to the eyewitness for the report.

20 Foot Scorced Circle - Moose Carcass Found Inside of Circle
Also while I am here, I talked with a witness by way of telephone and email, this is the strange one where a moose carcass was found in the middle of a 20 foot scorched circle. A friend had called me last week to ask the witnesses some question about this case, asking if the tree trunks were burnt, needles, or leaves up high on the trees may have been also burnt, or scorched. From what the second witness told me, all sides of the tree, meaning the side of the trees which faced the circle were indeed burnt all the way down from the top, to the trunk of the trees. But again, only the one side.
Now I know from some earlier cases I have read, the area sometimes will have no growth within the circle, due to some strange phenomena happening. So I am hoping this may be the case with this one. Also he said there were cut marks on the bones of the animal. (I guess anything could have made these, from teeth from wild animals eating the meat, etc.).
Thank you to one of the witnesses for their report.

Prince Rupert, British Columbia More Bright Objects
Posted: December 28, 2007
Date: June 20, 2002 Time: After midnight ?
The witness I chatted with, and a friend watched bright a bright light shot across the sky at a fairly high altitude. What they both found strange about the sighting, or light was that it zig-zagged back and worth as it crossed the sky. As they watched the first object disappear, three more bright (objects) lights were seen to the north. One of the lights shot straight up and a few seconds later a the second seemed to follow the first, by shooting straight up and gone. The third light was stationary, but grew brighter then followed the first and second light which flew straight up and out of sight.
Thank you to the witness for the report.

Endako, British Columbia An Object Hovering Over Endako Mines
Posted: December 28, 2007
Date: June 18, 2002 Time: approx: 11:55 p.m.
Two witnesses (workers) report seeing an object hovering over the far southern end of Endako Mines. They described the object as being oval in shape, the main body of it was white and the outer edges (halo) was a blue/green in color. The sighting lasted approx: 5 to 6 seconds they guessed and watched it fly very quickly to the south and over and then drop down behind a mountain. This is where they lost sight of it.
An interesting note: The mine produces Molybdenum and it's location is as follows. Endako Mines is located about 850 km north of Vancouver, Canada and is 190 km west of Prince George, near the centre of BC. It is served by Highway 16, running between Prince George and Prince Rupert. The turnoff to the mine is located 11 km west of Fraser Lake and the mine itself is situated at the end of an 11 km road from that turnoff. (Thank god for the mine having a website to gather some information off, it helps!)
I will finish this report up later on.
There are photos of the mine and maps, etc.
Thank you to the witness for the report.

Terrace, British Columbia Witness Watches Light (Star)
Posted: December 28, 2007

I received a phone call from a fellow who claims to have watched an object/light in the night sky. He reported seeing the object just sitting in one location low in the horizon before he lost sight of it. The sighting lasted approx: 45 minutes from when he first observed it to where it dropped down behind a mountain in the area. The witness said the object would change colors, from blue to red to green. Also it seems to be flashing, I made a suggestion to him, "would it maybe be twinkling". The witness said yes. I do believe what the fellow was watching was a star.
Thank you to the person for the report.

Telkwa, British Columbia Large Object Moves Across Their Farm
Posted: December 28, 2007
May ? 2002 Time: None given
HBCC UFO Research Note: Mrs. Stewart's who's report is below came about when I (Brian Vike) interviewed her husband over a sighting he had, which also was witnessed by many others all throughout the area.
I asked Mrs. Stewart what she had witnessed, she went on to tell me she was laying in bed a wake with the drapes closed over when a "really bright white light" lit up the whole room. Joanna said it frightened her, but she still got up slowly and approached the window carefully.
Thank you to Mrs. Stewart for her report. I would also like to add I couldn't have met a nicer couple. Lastly, Mr. Stewart was featured in a UFO do*****entary with me for the Life Network over what he saw.

Telkwa, British Columbia A Large Bright Mass
Posted: December 28, 2007
Date: May 19, 2002 Time: approx: 1:05 a.m.
I spoke today (September 5, 2002) with two people. One was the witness who watched an extremely bright light ( a large mass) flying very slowly over their farm, and the sister of this gentleman who was the one who informed me of this event.
The witnesses sister told me about an event that took place back on May 19, 2002 on her brothers farm in Telkwa, British Columbia, Canada. The sister lives in Smithers, B.C. and works for a well known business and of course wanted to remain anonymous. She filled me in with a little information in which her brother had told to her after the May 19, experience, and how it effected him mentally after seeing what he saw. I asked her if she thought her brother might talk to me about what happened, and she said she would call him, it wasn't long afterwards when the witness did call. One of the first things he asked was, would I have an explanation to what he had seen.
The witness went on to say that he went to bed around 11:30 p.m. on May 19, 2002 and was woken up approx an hour and a half later due to his dogs barking like crazy, he mentioned it was normal for them to bark at coyotes which are around the farm howling at night, or other wildlife which crosses their fields. The witness said the dogs also were acting up more than normal, and they did sound rather stressed at something, so he got up out of bed to see what was bothering the dogs, also telling them to be quiet.
As he walked through the kitchen towards the back door, we noticed a bright glow of white light coming in through the kitchen window. ( Investigator note: I know exactly where his property is, as I was just out in the neighborhood just recently interviewing witnesses from the July 29, 2002 sighting. There are no street lights in his area and the occasional light from a neighbor's farm in the distance.)
He went outside and walked out looking to see where this light was coming from. Over the field and approx: 1000 feet up, a large mass of white light was slowly moving across the sky heading in a northwesterly direction. (I asked just how fast was the mass of light moving, his example of the speed was, "it moved a fast a small Ultra-light aircraft or close to it"). The witness said the whole field, trees, home, and barns were all bathed in this white light. He watched this for a few seconds, then called his pets and ran back into his home.
Now when I talked with his sister, I asked if he reported the sighting to anyone after it happened, such as the RCMP in Smithers. Now she thinks he did, so I am assuming he mentioned this to her. But when I asked him, he said he had not told anyone other than his family. (HBCC Note: When I dropped by the RCMP detachment about a month ago, they did not have any other sighting reports on file, as I asked. Mind you, I knew they had one other report as they took the details off of me and opened a file on it).
The witness did not want to go into it much more. But his sister did tell me that he was a mess after the encounter. She said the whole family had not believed in UFOs to speak of, but did always wonderful if there could be some form of life out "there". She also said it took him months to finally deal with it, and get back to a somewhat normal routine.
Thank you to the folks for there report.

Prince Rupert, British Columbia A Craft With Black Objects Following
Posted: December 28, 2007
Date: May 18, 2002 Time: not given:
My mother was on her way to the kitchen when she stopped to look outside the living room window towards the North. She saw this craft with different color lights around it and it had two smaller black objects following behind it, my mother was calling me to wake up and look at what she saw outside, I got up just in time to see this light slowly moving to the East and it slowly Blinked 3 times before it vanished and behind Mount Oldfield which is 1885 ft. high. The objects never made a sound, and this is the first time that my mother had ever seen any real UFO's.
Thank you to the witness for the report.

Sunset Lake - 15 Minutes East From Houston, B.C. Stationary Object
Posted: December 28, 2007
Date: April 4, 2002 Time: approx: 11:50 p.m.
A family watched a bright white glowing object staying stationary above Sunset Lake. They told me there was no sound from it. They also told me it was not a planet or the moon, due to the overcast sky. After about a couple of minutes the object rose up, moved erratically and disappeared in a southerly direction.
They said this they will never forget.
Thank you to the witness for the report.

Summerland, British Columbia Large Orange Pulsing Globe
Posted: December 28, 2007
Date: March 2002 Time: Approx: 9:00 p.m.
Location of Sighting: Over Okanagan lake north of Penticton. B.C. Number of witnesses: 2 Number of objects: 1 Shape of objects: Extremely large orange pulsing globe.
Full Description of event/sighting: At first we saw many flashing arrows of light streaking across the upstairs bedroom window. We ran to the living where there are huge windows, looking out at the lake (Skaha). We lived just south of Penticton at the time. Nothing was visible, so we sat there for about ten minutes when the huge globe appeared hovering above Okanagan lake. It was incredible. It pulsed twice, then again these long arrows of light shot out horizontally over Penticton and across the length of Shaka Lake, approx: ten miles in length (the lights) this happened twice. The second time the pulsing globe was farther up in the sky.
Thank you to the witness for their report.

Terrace, British Columbia A Circle Of Lights
Posted: December 28, 2007
Date: March 8, 2002 Time: Between 9:00 & 10:30 p.m.
Hi My name is (deleted by HBCC UFO) and I live in Terrace. I seen your clip in our weekend paper and thought I would like to tell you my experience. I sit outside to have a cigarette and on the evening of March 8th I say the most usual circle of lights at first it was really bright and as time passed which was about 5-6 minutes the lights began to fade further in the sky and these lights were not of a plane as I see many planes fly overhead as we only live 10 minutes from the airport. It was the most set of lights I have every seen. This took place in the evening as it was very dark I would have to say it was between 9:00 p.m. and 10:30 I'm not positive of the time, now I'm always looking up at the sky because if it is what I saw I'm sure it will return. If and when it does I plan on recording the time on my calendar. I have always believed there really are UFOS but this is the first time I have seen what I believe to be a UFO.
Well I'm signing of for now and I will keep in touch if I see anymore bright lights.
Investigators Note: this is the second such report I have received from a witness who claims to have seen a circle of lights in the night sky. The other witness will have the information for me this week sometime as she lives in my town of Houston, B.C. Also I will follow this report up to see what if any other information is available.
I would like to extend my thanks to the person wou sent in the story.

Terrace, British Columbia Star Like Object Comes To A Stop
Posted: December 28, 2007
Date: Monday, March 4, 2002 Time: approx: 5:30 - 5:45 a.m.
The witness reported to me that he is a body builder and was doing his cardio workout the morning before heading to his place of employment. He was looking up towards the sky and all of a sudden what seemed like a star shot across the sky and came to a complete stop. The witness told me that whatever it was he saw did a loop in the sky and then went straight up and disappeared.
He asked me "did it actually move or am I confused or something". I informed him that coloured stars do not do loops in the sky !
I asked what the color of this light looked like. He went on to say it seemed like a star, but a very bright star with a blue, green red color to it. I ask how long this event took place, he said from the time he took notice of it, it lasted only about ten seconds or so. Weather conditions were clear. I asked which direction did it seem to come from. He told me the light headed from east to west but on a bit of an angle. Also he said the light stayed stationary for not more than four seconds or so.
He knew it was a strange sight he saw and I thanked him for calling in his report.
I would like to extend my thanks to the person wou sent in the story.

Kitimat, British Columbia Object Had A Tail
Posted: December 28, 2007
Date: March 5, 2002 Time: Approx: 8:45 p.m.
Hello Brian, We read the article in the Weekend Advertiser regarding HWY 16 reports of bright objects in the sky.
We live in Kitimat and on March 5th, around 8:45 p.m. we decided to go look at the stars because it was such a clear night. My husband and I were looking one way and my son (9 years old) was looking towards the north when he said he saw a bright light with a red and orange layer going straight down from the sky. .He described the object as having a tail.
He said he didn't see it fall to the ground because it disappeared behind a tree.
I had him draw and write down what he saw.He wrote "Going down like a ball of fire. "
I'm wondering if you could tell us what this could possibly be. I believe him because he became very excited at the time.
Yours truly,
Thank you to the witness for the report.

Hi My name is (name removed) and I live in Terrace, British Columbia. I seen your clip in our weekend paper and thought I would like to tell you my experience. I sit outside to have a cigarette and on the evening of March 8, 2002. I saw the most usual circle of lights. At first it was really bright and as time passed which was about 5-6 minutes the lights began to fade further in the sky and these lights were not of a plane, as I see many planes fly overhead as we only live 10 minutes from the airport. It was the most strange set of lights I have every seen. This took place in the evening as it was very dark. I would have to say it was between 9:00 p.m. and 10:30. I'm not positive of the time, now I'm always looking up at the sky because if it is what I saw I'm sure it will return. If and when it does, I plan on recording the time on my calendar. I have always believed there really are UFOs, but this is the first time I have seen what I believe to be a UFO. Well I'm signing of for now and I will keep in touch if I see anymore bright lights.

Houston, British Columbia Object Lifts Up From The Ground
Posted: December 27, 2007
Date: March 1 - 7th, 2002 Time: 2:00 p.m. Weather Conditions: Partly Cloudy Sighting lasted: Approx: 2 minutes
Dear sir, I'll try to answer your questions as best as I can. I remember seeing it in the early part of March as I said before. I cannot remember the date exactly, but it was about 2 p.m. when we saw it. It was a cloudy day with some sunny breaks. I will try to give you the location as best I can. I'm not totally familiar with the area yet as I live in the town houses across from the duck pond trail. There is a little park there for kids. I was looking out my patio window towards Houston Forest products, but a little off to the side towards the mountains, there is a small mountain or hill I guess you can call it. It kind of looks like a lump and it was almost behind the hill when it rose up into the sky from what I can see. It left the ground and flew straight up then returned to the ground, straight back down. It zig zagged quite sharply and flew straight back up into the clouds and disappeared.
The sighting lasted about 2 minutes in all and from where I was I could not hear nothing. As for the size, it was about the same size as a school bus is long , but totally round, and a metallic silver in color. I only seen it one time. I hope this will answer your question if there is anything else I can help you with just email me. I will try to get around to taking a photo of the location where I saw it using my digital camera if you would like to give you a better idea of the location.
Thank you to the witness for their report.

Kitimat, British Columbia Object With Yellow, Blue, And Red Flames
Posted: December 28, 2007
Date: March 19, 2002 Time: 7:35 a.m.
A fellow who lives in Terrace and works in Kitimat, while on his way to work this morning told me he watched "something" coming out of the sky with flames behind it. He described his location as being near the Kitimat River Bridge heading towards Kitimat driving down the one straight stretch which heads away from the river and saw the object more or less directly over Kitimat. He says he drives back and forth each day but today he saw something streaking down with yellow, blue, and red flame behind it and trailing smoke.
Investigators note: The witness to this event said the "object" what ever it was came straight down. I have been in contact with the Kitimat newspaper this morning but they have not had anyone report this as of yet. I will look into other areas where I might find some information and hopefully get lucky.
Many thanks to this witness for his report.

Terrace, British Columbia Possible Meteor
Posted: December 28, 2007
Date: March 17, 2002 Time: approx: 12:05 a.m. Possible Meteor - Fireball
Dear Mr. Vike, My name is (removed) and I live in Terrace. I am 17 years old and I read the article in the paper about UFO sightings. Tonight I seen something in the sky that is probably nothing but I would like to tell you to see if it may help at all.
At about 12:05 I was the time that me and my girlfriend were in my hot tub looking at the starts. Tonight was a clear night and many stars were visible. We seen may shooting stars but we were surprises when a flash of light tore across the sky. This was no shooting star because it was much bigger and lit up the whole sky, flashing as it went behind the mountain.
I only seen a little bit of it but my girlfriend described it as almost round in shape and very bright. It was only in the sky for seconds before going behind the mountain. She said it looked like the moon because it had a less brighter outer "shell" I guess you could say. What astonished me was how bright it was and its speed. What I am thinking it probably is was a meteor burning in the atmosphere but I was just wondering what other people have sighted. I live about 15 minutes north of Terrace. The object seemed very close. I wish I could have seen it a little longer to give you a better description but it was so bright and fast it was almost impossible. It was like someone was flashing high beams in the sky.
Anyways I just thought I would let you know of this and I hope you will write back to tell me what it possibly was. I am also interested to hear what everyone else has been seeing so maybe I could watch the sky since I have to drive the highway every night.
Hope to hear from you.
Many thank to this witness for reporting their sighting to me.

Kitwanga, British Columbia A Very Bright Light In The Swamp
Posted: December 28, 2007
Date: Late February, 2002 Time: approx: Between 4:30 & 5:00 a.m.
The witness tells me he saw the bright light on Highway # 37 between 55 and 60 kilometers just north of Kitwanga, British Columbia. He told me at the location of the sighting there is a large swampy area off to the left and through the trees, (the witness stopped to till me that there was a full moon present that early morning and thought what he was looking at was the reflection of the moon on the water).
The fellow went on to say that there was a very, very bright light in the swamp. His impression of what he saw was a gas station canopy lit up as it was so bright. He mentioned he saw the light 3 times while slowly driving down the highway in the space through the trees. The light would disappear and reappear and he had a good view of it very distinctly the second time. He described the light as an orangey - yellow in color.
I asked if he could hear any sounds coming from the area, but he mentioned he was in a logging truck and I certainly know how noisy this can be. I also asked if he could give me an idea on the size of this light. He went on to say whatever it was, was huge. I also asked if, to his knowledge, were there any power lines or transmission towers located at the area where this was seen. He said as far as he knew there was nothing what so ever in the area. He said the bright light was stationary and did not move an inch. I asked how far the light was positioned in the sky and he said either it was sitting on the ground or just above it.
We talked for a while and he again mentioned what his impression was of this light.
Witness: Whatever it was that was making this light, he seriously thought it was similar to travelling along an empty stretch of highway and coming upon a gas station which has all its lights turned on. A big lit up area like a canopy of a gas station.
After he arrived home he later discussed this with his wife telling her how strange this bright light seemed to be and he told me again it was very bright and glowing and how it freaked him out as there was nothing in the swamp area that he knew of.
I want to take a drive to the area, so he is going to get me the exact location so I will be able to find the spot. He told me the swamp would have been along the Cranberry River (south) before the first crossing of the highway. He mentioned the swamp would be approx: 3 to 5 kilometers south of the highway.
Thank you to the witness for the report.

A Night To Remember A Major UFO Sighting At Telkwa, British Columbia
Posted: December 28, 2007
Friday, February 1, 2002, Time: 9:00 PM Location: 3 Kilometers east of Telkwa, British Columbia, Canada on HYW #16 Viewing Time: approx: 90 seconds. Weather Condition: Overcast
Woodmere UFO Sighting A Huge Boomerang Shaped Craft
I was contacted by a friend who told me about three ladies who went to Smithers, British Columbia, Canada for a days shopping. Once they had their day outing the ladies left Smithers at approx: 8:45 PM Friday night, February 1, 2002 on their way home to Houston, B.C. It was a dark and overcast night as they traveled the 45 minutes back to Houston on highway #16 heading east. After passing through the small community of Telkwa just 3 kilometers east they all noticed a "very" bright light glowing through the overcast sky. While they watched this bright light in the distance their thoughts were that it was the moon shining through, they gasped as this object poked slowly through the cloud cover descending as it drew closer in their direction.
The witnesses were traveling at a speed of 90 kilometers per hour with the glowing object coming toward them. One of the girls thought it may be a bomb or something as she remembered the world terrorist events of recent times. The glowing light dropped a head of them just above the tree tops, still moving in their direction and getting closer to the highway.
The closer the light came to them, the larger it grew in size.
As the seconds passed, all three witnesses became curious as to what this was and had slowed the car to approx: 50 kilometers per hour to get a better look. The bright light was almost above the vehicle. The driver of the car stepped on the gas and sped up to put some distance between them and the light which now turned out to be a "huge" craft. One of the girls who was sitting in the back seat of the small car turned around and lay her back over the console between the driver and passengers seat, watching the object as it passed over the car. This witness who was looking up as it passed overhead of the vehicle said there were 7 very large, bright white lights passing overhead with 2 orange lights at either end.
Very shaken, nervous and cold running through them they headed quickly towards home as the object still continued along its way toward the Telkwa area. They mentioned that other vehicles were on the highway and had to have seen the object due to it's size and brightness. These ladies also said that a pick up truck passed them at a good rate of speed just seconds down the road after this incident.
Investigators note:
I went to interview the three ladies on Sunday night, February 3, 2002 at a friends home. While we were discussing this encounter one of them got a good case of the goose bumps. She said she was happy that she wasn't alone when this took place because she was so frightened not knowing what this object was. She also noted that if she had been alone she would never have said anything about what she witnessed due to not being believed by others.
The witnesses drew a sketch of the object which passed overhead and I will have that on my website very soon. It was similar to a boomerang in shape and a "guestimate" of size would have placed this object at about 450 feet from end to end.
I also contacted newspapers and radio stations throughout the area to see if any other witnesses to this sighting had come forward but was told no one had reported seeing any type of object that night. I also contacted the Houston RCMP asking if anyone had made a report but was told no. They did though take a report from me, asking for the names of the witnesses which I declined to give. I then contacted the Smithers RCMP Detachment asking the same question and as far as they knew nothing had been reported to them either, but the receptionist asked me if a constable could contact me to get more information on this sighting. An RCMP constable did call and I told him what I knew. He then asked me if I would give him some personal information about myself. I agreed and the RCMP constable asked for my full name, weight, height, color of my eyes, hair color, drivers license number and my street number and mailing address which I was happy to give to him. He told me he had already contacted the Houston RCMP detachment and the Smithers Airport Tower asking if they had any information about what was seen on February 1, 2002. The Smithers RCMP now has an open file on this case.
Update: This morning ( February 14th 2002), I checked my email and found that another good friend and excellent UFO investigator wrote telling me of a sighting which took place between January 29 & 31st of 2002 approximately 6 km east of Burns Lake, BC. So something is taking place in and around our area.
Update To The Above (January 31, 2002 sighting) - Something Is Taking Place In My Area.
Hi Brian,
I'm trying to peg down a better date on this, but the story is like this.
About 6 km east of town is the KOA campground and trailer court. (name deleted by HBCC UFO) has a trailer in there. He has a girlfriend in Prince George who comes down here frequently, and who was a second witness.
About 3 a.m. (name deleted by HBCC UFO) was awakened by a bright light shining in his bedroom window. At this time, i'm not sure if his girlfriend was already awake, or if (name deleted by HBCC UFO) woke her, but he asked her if she knew what the light was.
Again, I need to get more details on this, remembering of course that he had just been awakened, but I'd like to know how long he saw the light and whether it came from above or from the side. (name deleted by HBCC UFO) isn't too sure, and was going to ask his girlfriend.
He briefly thought it may have been a vehicle driving by, but after moving his truck to a location where he could shine the headlights in the bedroom window, he realized the illumination was totally different. He also thought a street light down the road may have flashed for a moment, but the light he saw was much brighter.
If you remember the newspaper article 'Flash! Blink! Zip! UFO seen over Burns Lake' from the 70's, this sounds like the same situation where Francois Lake residents were awakened by a bright light. Who knows, maybe we'll enjoy a replay of events from thirty years ago.
The above report is from a good friend and excellent UFO investigator just east of me.
Military Exercise Taken Place:
On February 7, 2002 we left Smithers Airport finally after having a flight to Vancouver cancelled the previous day due to bad weather. There was a low cloud ceiling and the Dash 8-300 aircraft was not able to make a landing. But we rebooked for Thursday, February 7, 2002 to fly out of Smithers, BC. Finally the plane landed and we boarded the aircraft. The pilot's voice came over the PA announcing that the planes wings would need to be de-icing before take off. After all was done and we taxied out onto the runway, the pilot again made an announcentment informing all the passengers that we were going to have to make a "slight" detour from our planned flight to Vancouver, BC. His explanation was military exercises were taking place "somewhere" along our flight path.
Now knowing that two UFO sightings had just taken place in our area, I started to wonder if there was any connection to these incidents or was this just a routine practice planned in advance. I asked the stewardess what the pilot meant by this minor adjustment in the flight plan and she did ask the pilot and the answer I got was that the military can call for an exercise at anytime.
After I got home from my brief holiday south, I made several phone calls to enquire about any military exercise taking place in and around British Columbia at the time we had left for Vancouver. I contacted the military Public Affairs at Comox which is on Vancouver Island. I was informed that this gentleman was not aware of any type of exercises taking place at or around February 7 as I was told. The Public Affairs Officer informed me that he could not understand why the pilot would mention any military exercises occurring as they like to keep a low profile and not interfere with public transportation. I personally thought his statement a little strange.
I then contacted the Smithers Airport flight tower and asked a few questions. I enquired if they were aware of any type of military happenings taking place on the designated flight path to Vancouver from Smithers BC. They also were not aware of anything regarding this matter. But I was told by the folks at the Smithers Flight tower that there were several locations in British Columbia which the Canadian military use for low and high level flight exercises. There are two areas around Knight Inlet on the west coast and another which was mentioned was a 1000 square kilometer area around Antahim Lake here close to my area. This part of the country is east of the southern end of Tweedsmuir Park (a wilderness area).
Investigators note:
I am not stating here that there is any type of cover up, but only gathering the facts which may or may not have anything to do with these sightings early in February, 2002. We do though need to check into any and all ideas which may lead to our military knowing something about these objects (crafts) seen by a number of creditable witnesses.
Also due to the number of UFO reports I have received for 2001 there may be something taking place around the Bulkley Valley (Houston to Smithers B.C.) The total reports I have received are 6 for this area plus the two recent cases I have been working on.
Update for the February 1, 2002 sighting - Investigators note:
There has been another witness who reported seeing something large and very unusual on Friday, February 1, 2002. I just found out yesterday February 12, 2002 and I am trying to track this witness down.
This case is ongoing.
Friday, February 3, 2002, Time: 7:00 PM Location: Houston, British Columbia, Canada - Industrial Park Over Bulkley River Viewing Time: approx: 30 seconds. Weather Condition: Overcast - Light Snow Flurries
Houston Industrial Park Sighting.
On Sunday, February 3, 2002 another sighting was reported to me which took place in my home town of Houston, B.C. There were two witnesses (husband & wife). While this couple were at their residence which is above their business the wife heard a loud humming noise coming from outside. She got up to investigate, looking out a couple of windows before she noticed a very bright white object hovering above the Bulkley River just north a few hundred yards from their place of residence. She called to her husband to come and see it. They both witnessed this large bright white object shooting beams of light down towards the river hovering at tree top level. This sighting lasted approx: 30 seconds from the time it was discovered before it shot up the side of the mountain and disappeared. I was told the speed of this object was incredible to say the least. This couple told me they were going to call the Houston RCMP thinking that the object had crashed into the side of the mountain but did not as the object continued it's course up the mountain and out of sight before they knew what was going on.
Investigators Note:
I have visited the area where this craft was hovering, but have not found any trace evidence of any kind. Mind you we had about 4 inches of snow late the night of this sighting. I have also taken photos of this area for my files.
This case is ongoing.
Reported Sightings For 2001 I Have Been Working On:
1. Houston British Columbia, Canada, July 2001 - A fellow walks into the Houston Food Mart telling of an object hovering approx: 500 feet above a transmitting tower on Mount Harry Davis here in Houston, BC. This object was emitting sparks off the bottom side shooting down towards the transmitting tower. This sighting lasted when noted approx: 25 seconds before completely disappearing before the witnesses eyes. This witness was a hard fellow to track down, but I did finally catch up to him.
2. Houston, British Columbia, Canada, January 1999 - Snowmobilers on the Telkwa Mountain Range watched a silver/black disc shaped object hover in the distance. There was more than one witness to this sighting. Many people spend the winter months snowmobiling in the area due to the amount of snow we receive each year. One of the favorite places to go is the Telkwa Mountain Range and this is where this sighting took place. My wife and I dropped into a local restaurant for dinner one night, after finishing our meal I went to pay for it and I was asked about the HBCC UFO logo on my jacket, and after explaining what it was the owner went on to tell me of a sighting he had with others. He mentioned that they all watched, including a couple of tourists this silver/black disc shaped object hover in the distance. He also said it was hard to make out what this really was due to the distance away, but he did tell me what ever it was sat and hovered for some time before vanishing completely.
3. Houston to Smithers, British Columbia, Canada, September 2001 - A man driving west towards Smithers from Houston on Highway # 16 around Grouse Mountain watched a white light streak low over the valley below him. He claims the light was white in color and very bright. The UFO sighting lasted only a few seconds.
4. Houston to Smithers, British Columbia, Canada, August 2001 - Husband and his wife watched a large white light (object) east of Telkwa. Telkwa is between Smithers and Houston. The object which was reported was of a very large size and glowing brightly. The UFO encounter lasted approx: 20 seconds before disappearing rapidly to the north.
5. Smithers, British Columbia, Canada, September 2001 - A woman who runs a cafe at the (deleted by HBCC ) mentioned to me that she witnessed a bright glowing white object about five months ago which shot across the sky, came to a complete stop, and then disappeared up and out of sight. She told me she had not mentioned this before to anyone until now when she talked to me.
6. Smithers, British Columbia, Canada, August 2001 - A security officer, person who checks out (deleted by HBCC) told me her friends had witnessed a multi colored object hovering for a few seconds in the Smithers area, and shot off very quickly.
I would appreciate hearing from anyone who may know something or seen something about the above sightings.
Thank you very much.
Also on a side note, the Life Network flew a film crew out and filmed all of the eyewitness to this exciting event.

Vanderhoof, British Columbia Lights Flashed On And Off Repeatedly
Posted: December 28, 2007
Date of First Sighting: Around the first of February 2002 ? Early morning before daybreak (Approx: 5:30 - 6:00 AM) Viewed Over Sinkut Mountain Location: Approx: 13 miles east of Vanderhoof towards Prince George, BC
The two witnesses reported that the bright lights looked as if they were on a landing (meaning an area which has been logged and now clear of timber). They reported that these lights flashed on and off repeatedly and moving around in a large area. They both said they watched this for a long time wondering what it was as the light was very bright and they thought it may have possibly been someone logging but it travelled in such a square area and moved very fast. It then disappeared and started the same procedure all over again.
On February 28, 2002 near daybreak they saw the same lights again. I asked for more precise location details and she told me they saw the lights approximately 13 miles east out of Vanderhoof, BC heading towards Prince George on Langston Road. Both times these lights were observed the witnesses thought they were seeing someone logging using one of the big machines as the lights were so bright. The witness told me her husband had made a call to the Forestry Services to enquire if anyone was logging in the area as it looked so strange and thinking there was an reasonable explanation to what they were seeing. The Forestry said there was no one logging at all in that area (on either occasion).
I asked the witness if she could give me some idea how high these lights may have been off the mountain. She said the lights were off Sinkut Mountain, (and there were a few hills between the mountain) at around tree - line and "looked" actually as if the lights were going around a cut block and were not very high in the sky at all she said. She also mentioned it was quite a distance away from them. I then asked what the color of this large, very bright light was. She asked her husband also and told me it was orangey - white in color. She went on to say again how fast these lights were moving in such a large area. They ruled out it being an aircraft due to the lights moving right around this block of land.
They also thought it could not have been a highway truck because of the height of the lights. As she mentioned to me again, these lights would be traveling slow, then speed up and would then disappear all together. Then all of a sudden they would reappear. When it did reappear it was in a different spot in the same area. Both her and her husband found that whatever this was it did not make any logical sense to them both. They said they watched the latest lights for about 20 minutes before they completely vanished but in the earlier sighting around the first of the month they watched it for a much longer time.
She said to me it spooked her husband and this was one reason why they placed a call to the Forestry just to check whether or not people were working in the area, but they were told no ! She did mention that they could see no shape to the lights as it was just too dark and went on again to say how bright the light was. (She said to me that the light was incredibly bright) and added that it was moving way too fast to be an aircraft or any trucks, etc. The witness said to me she thought it looked like it was surveying something as it kept going around this one area.
Both witnesses thought the incidents incredibly strange but had put them out of their mind until they saw the article I had placed in their local newspaper whereas they immediately telephoned to tell me of their experience.
Investigators Note: I just got off the telephone with a member of the Forestry Service in Vanderhoof to ask if there was or has been any logging or road clearing in this area where the sightings took place. he said NO !! He did say there was some bug burning operation but this was taking place down low in the valley and not close to where the lights were observed. I also asked him about the statement the witnesses made about the lights around tree-line. he again told me there would have been no logging or anything else taking place up that high. So again, another mystery.
I Would Like To Thank Both Of These Witnesses For Telling Their Story.

Telkwa, British Columbia A Light Changing Colors Really Fast
Posted: December 28, 2007
February 7, 2002 Time: Approx: 8:45 PM
A gentleman telephoned me from Telkwa, B.C. to report something rather strange that he and his wife watched while sitting in their hot tub outdoors. The witness said he was looking towards the east and mentioned that he wasn't quite sure what it was he saw. He explained that this thing was changing colors, really, really fast and said it was not a planet or star and wasn't anything like this and the colors were very distinct. The witness said it almost seemed like it was in the glide path the planes use to land at the Smithers Airport. He first thought it may be a plane. About a half hour later it was still in exactly the same position when he first observed the colored lights. He went on to say an hour later the lights were exactly in the same spot and he totally ruled out this being an aircraft.
The colors were changing from red to green to blue and went on to say the lights just snapped in and out. (or off and on). After observing them for over an hour they completely disappeared. In his words: "It was if someone blew out a candle" and the lights were gone.
Investigators Note: When I was listening to this report my first thoughts were that what they were seeing was most likely a star. "But" after these lights stayed stationary for an hour or more I ruled this out. I wish we could have gotten a picture of this. It may not have shown much but would have been interesting anyway.
Thank you to the witness for sending along this report.

Francois Lake, Grassy Plains A Fast Bright Moving Object
Posted: December 28, 2007
(South of Burns Lake) British Columbia
Date: February 14, 2002 Time: Approx: 12:00 a.m. (midnight) Weather Conditions: Clear Sound: None Telephone Interview
This witness telephoned me saying he had read the newspaper article (Lakes District Newspaper) on the sightings which are taking place around our area. He reports that on February 11 - 15, 2002 he saw something very strange in the night's sky. He lives at Francois Lake, on the south side, and approximately 30 kilometers from the Ferry landing. He said the night was perfectly dark with the stars shinning brightly. This gentleman said he looked up into the sky, when something caught his eye due to the speed of the object with lights on it.
He went on to explain that he has seen a lot satellites, planes, etc.. but this object was like nothing he could compare it to. He said it almost looked like an aircraft, and when it came into his vision which was closer to his area he was located in, the object then came to a complete "stop" and went totally dark. (meaning the lights went out on the object). Then all of a sudden there was a flash off light which reminded him as if you took a mirror and reflected it off the sunlight and aiming it towards the ground you would have a very bright area lit up. But because it was totally dark he said it was like a ray of light which seemed to be sweeping on the ground.
This witness told me the sighting only lasted a couple of minutes before continuing on it's way at an incredible speed and disappeared. I asked what direction the object came from, he said it came from north and left heading directly south. Also his father-in-law was witness to the sighting also. He went on to say he looked for a reasonable explanation for this sighting as he was not to keen on the idea of "UFOs". But can't seem to find a any explanation. I asked what altitude he estimated the object was at, he said it was very hard to tell, but went on to say he could not believe how powerful the light was. It was almost like if the sun was shinning through the clouds, giving the effect of a beam of light and of course the brightness of it. Once again it looked as if it was looking for something due to the light sweeping (moving around on the ground).
Thank you to the witness for the report.

Smithers, British Columbia Witness Also Saw The Boomerang Craft
Posted: December 28, 2007
Date: February 1, 2002 Time: Approx: 10:00 p.m.
Investigators Note: I received this report March, 24, 2002 which may be a confirmation to the February 1, 2002 sighting in which three ladies witnessed a large boomerang shaped object 3 kilometers east of Telkwa. The witnesses to this sighting were heading east on Highway #16 towards Houston, B.C. their home town. The object passed right over head, going west towards Smithers, B.C. Telkwa is a 10 minute drive east of Smithers. I started out making enquiries into the February, 1, 2002 sighting but I must admit I wasn't ready for the amount of sighting reports which kept coming in.
Today, Sunday, March 24, 2002 I received a telephone call from a gentleman who lives in Smithers, British Columbia who had read an article in the Smithers Interior Newspaper about some of the sightings which have taken place from Kitimat, B.C. right through to Prince George. The paper also carried my contact information so if anyone had seen anything strange and wanted to, they could at least find me to file a report for investigation.
This witness told me he had gone to rent a video from the Smithers Hollywood Video store and after he came out and got into his car and starting driving down the road, something caught his eye. He mentioned, due to the lights from the town of Smithers he could see the object rather well. He pulled his vehicle over, got out and watched it fly slowly over and around the town for approximately five minutes. He also told me he thought it was descending and his first thoughts were of a para-glider and said it was the best way he could describe what he was looking at. He also said the object had "one" bright white light on it. He mentioned the light would go bright to dim, but said he wasn't sure if this was due to the object turning.
The witness mentioned that para-gliders often flew off Hudson Bay mountain and I asked him, because of that fact, had there ever been any other sightings of the gliders .... he replied "no, not at night".
I asked him if he had an idea what the size would have been of this object. He said it was hard to tell, but went on to say it would have been about the size of a para-glider if you were standing next to it. He also said the height from the ground would have been approx: 1500 feet. It slowly made turns over the town of Smithers. I also asked about the weather conditions at the time of his sighting, and he said it was overcast as did the three witnesses for the Telkwa sighting the same night.
The witness said he would never have mentioned his sighting to anyone as he did not know who or where to report this anyway, until he read the article in the newspaper.
Investigators Note: I was talking to some new friends (I am keeping their identity secret) and they told me that they knew for a fact that there was more than normal air traffic in and around our area after the sighting on February 1, 2002. Their source would not elaborate on what was taking place, but again said there were a number of aircraft patrolling the skies our way. I thought this was very interesting as well.
Thank you to the witness for their report.

Cedarvale, British Columbia Satellite Like Objects
Posted: December 28, 2007
Dates: Seems to be ongoing.
I plan a trip to visit these witnesses in April when I make my rounds. Also I have only taken a clip from the report due to the information I would have to delete as not to identify this witness.
Dear Mr. Vike, Thank you for your response - in light of the fact that you are very busy -I do appreciate it.
Well, when I finally got the nerve to tell my neighbors about seeing the "Satellites" operating above their property, the man of the house said "Why didn't you call me? Everyone else has seen them except me!" so I promised that next time I would call him.
It seems that these neighbors and my other neighbor have seen "Satellite-like things" in this area for quite some time - and not only like what I have described but different as well. The above mentioned Man's little Girls said that when they were camping outside one summer night they observed lights dancing in the fields and then the light then came right into the tent that they were sleeping in. This same family saw a "Satellite" in a bush early one morning at the end of the driveway as they were heading off to school.
My neighbor on the hill above my home had a major "Satellite" sighting and was so excited! He tried to call us but his telephone would not work [we had been away from home that weekend.

Terrace, British Columbia A Bright Dot Bouncing Over The Mountain
Posted: December 28, 2007
Date: February 1 - 5, 2002 Time: Daybreak
A witness called me today to report that he had witnesses a very shiny bright "dot" moving up and down very fast right above the mountain. I asked if he could be more exact to what mountain he was talking about. He told me this took place between Terrace and the Terrace - Kitimat airport. He also said if you looking from the south towards this object there would be a small hill separating himself and the Terrace - Kitimat airport. This is where this bright dot of light was seen bouncing, over top the mountain. He also reported that it would move from one side quickly heading towards Prince Rupert then shoot back into the same position from where it came from. He also reported that it would completely disappear and then reappear again some distance away from where it then vanished.
He also went on to tell that a couple of his relatives had also seen it as well.
My many thanks to this witness for his report.
