I noticed this bright light in the western sky from Canmore, Alberta last night. The two other people I was with also acknowledged this and at one point (10:00 p.m.) all three of us saw a significantly smaller and duller light moving straight 'up' towards the bright star.
The speed of the smaller light was quite fast, but was much slower than shooting stars I've seen in the past. To be more precise, it covered several inches of sky as it closed in on the bright star in about 5-10 seconds.
It was long enough for us to comment on what we were seeing. The smaller light intersected the bright light and there was nothing more.
What was the bright light? Could the flash mentioned by 'Anonymous' in Calgary be the result of a collision? What was the dull object travelling through space?
My curiosity has been peaked if anyone has any answers.
