Hi Brian, I said I wouldn’t go out there tonight but I did anyway. I just had to check and indeed the sky had partially cleared so I can see some of the stars.
Just 20 minutes ago, looking to the NE sky I saw three “falling stars” within a five minute period. A few minutes after the first three fell, I saw the familiar little light (the orangey one) start to move, from my position, moving from NE to NW direction. It was moving slowly (relatively to its speed at other times). If I could put its speed in km/h it was going at about 50-60 km/h. I lost sight of it because some faint aurora and partial cloud were obscuring my view. It’s going to fly around us for a while, I’m sure, because that’s what it usually does. Then I looked to the SE sky (I was on my front porch tonight) and saw another “falling star”.
By any chance would you know if there are meteor showers going on above us tonight? Where can I access this kind of information quickly?
To answer the witness question about a possible meteor shower, this would be The Perseid Meteor Shower.
Thank you to the person for the report.
