Multiple Reports Of Flying Saucer Over Tuc-El-Nuit Lake Oliver British Columbia

Brian Vike's Favorite Cases.

Date: Early to mid 1950's ?
Time: Early afternoon.

Location of Sighting: Tuc-El-Nuit Lake Oliver British Columbia Canada
Number of witnesses: 1
Number of objects: 1
Shape of objects: Saucer shape on top and bottom.

Investigator Brian Vike’s Note: Now this is a really interesting sighting report since there appears to have been more people who witnessed this object as the person reporting mentions the radio station carried a news story on this craft being observed by others.

I would like to request from others who were in that area at the time and if they saw this craft, would you please be kind enough to contact me here at brian_vike@telus.net with the details of what you saw. Thank you, Brian.

Full Description of event/sighting: I recall I was 8 or 10 years old and playing by myself in our back yard on the west side of Tuc-el-Nuit Lake.

I was not looking at the lake, but was facing north. A movement over my right shoulder caught my attention and I turned towards the lake.

Flying very low above the lake and coming from the south was a very strange looking airplane. It had no wings, no propeller, was the same shape top and bottom and made no sound. The size was a bit bigger than any plane I'd seen before and the only planes I had seen were small private planes. I'd never been to a big airport.

The colour a silver grey. The lake was only half a mile wide at that point so "the plane" was quite close and only about three times as high as our rooftop. If it had been a float plane I would have expected it to be landing at the far end of the lake.

It was moving only a little faster than I would have expected a plane to fly. I watched it continue up the lake then went back to my playing.

Later when I went in the house I told my mother about the strange plane I'd seen.

A short time later she heard on the 5:00 p.m. news that a "flying saucer" had been seen by a great many people flying north up the Okanagan Valley. It fit the description of what I'd seen so she told me about it. The radio station was CKOK Penticton.

I wasn't overly impressed as I'd never even heard of flying saucers. My parents were aware of them, but it was never a topic that they had any reason to discuss. To me it was just a funny looking airplane. In fact, if it had not been on the news I doubt that I would have remembered it as the years went by. Of course to see it now would be very exciting and I would pay a lot more attention!

Over the years I've looked at archives of sightings in B.C., but have never seen mention of that event. That surprises me a bit since several people apparently reported it to the radio station at the time.

Unfortunately I can't give the exact year. I just know it was after 1950 and before 1960. It was around the time that my parents were part of a team of volunteers that had to report any planes they heard or saw during their shift. My parents shift was midnight to 2:00 a.m..

Both being teachers they used the time to mark papers! Years later when I asked why they were doing that, they couldn't remember what it was about, but that it was being done in more areas than Oliver.

Around that same time period there was another sighting in the sky that I noted, but did not think about more than just briefly. I was in the same area of Oliver playing with some friends. This was early afternoon in the summer.

They were standing above me on a mound of dirt and as I was looking at them I noticed three bright lights in the sky to the north. They looked like very bright stars and formed a small triangle. We all watched them for a while but they didn't move so we went on playing.

Over the next half hour whenever we looked up they were there. Since I remembered my father saying that as a boy in Alert Bay (1920's) he and a friend once watched several unmoving "stars" for a whole afternoon I just assumed that we also were looking at stars.

Yes we knew that it was unusual to see stars in the daylight. The reason I remembered the event was that I was pleased that I'd seen something special that my dad had seen when he was about my age. Since then I've looked for stars in the daytime sky when the air is very clear but have never seen any.

I realize this report is from a long time ago but I am hoping you have records of this from other people. If nothing else I appreciate the opportunity to at last tell someone about the event. Thank-you.

Thank you to the witness for the wonderful report.

If you seen this object, or anything else like it, would you please contact me, Brian Vike at brian_vike@telus.net

Between 1954 and 1958, Tuc-El-Nuit Lake Oliver, British Columbia Canada (Daylight sighting)

This is a bit of an unusual addition to a report you posted earlier [see above].

My older sister submitted the report "Tuc-El-Nuit Lake Oliver, British Columbia 1950s Flying Saucer". She emailed me to take a look at this site, and I read her submission. Now, it gets a bit strange.

This was the very first time I heard about her seeing this event. That in itself is not particularly strange, but I saw something similar, and she did not know of my sighting nor I hers! Reading her report was a bit of a shock, to say the least.

What follows is a description of what I saw sometime between 1954 and 58. I was somewhere between 4 and 8 years old.

It was a bright day with a solid high overcast, and, I believe, in the afternoon. No wind and a warm day.

I was outside by the lake shore, facing south. Something attracted my attention and I looked up high to my left in time to see three objects streak towards the south. They were moving much faster than any ducks flew, and were absolutely silent.

There was no flapping of wings or any body movement whatsoever. They did not appear to be descending, but got smaller as they flew out of sight behind a row of poplar trees about 100m away.

There were three objects, flying in a "V" formation. They looked to me at the time like ducks with no tails and very short stubby wings. They were dark in colour and I saw no markings or distinguishable features.

My age and lack of any other reference led me to assume they were just weird birds. What seemed unusual to me at the time other than the weird shape was the speed and silence of their flight.

They appeared to me as ducks would look if they were flying 10 or 15m above my head. I should have seen details and heard the murmuring that ducks make as they fly.

I told my Mom and Dad about the "ducks". They questioned me, but couldn't really come to any satisfactory conclusions and we just shrugged and moved on.

My sister and I talked about these events for the first time today. Neither of us was aware of the other's sighting. We are not really able to figure out who saw what first, but we are both certain that we did not know of each other's story. We are equally certain that we saw what we saw, and are not "remembering" a story we heard from the other.

FYI. Tuc-el-nuit Lake is, according to Indian legend, the birthplace of Ogopogo. He apparently swam up the Okanagan River to Okanagan Lake. The "Okanagan Arch" is also visible from this area.

Thank you to the witnesses for their reports.

UFO Shoot Out Above Okanagan Lake Kelowna British Columbia (An Amazing Case)

 Brian Vike's Favorite Cases.

Two UFOs Battle In The Skies Over Okanagan Lake (Kelowna) British Columbia

Kelowna, B. C. Two UFOs - More Eyewitness To An Amazing UFO Event !

Also I do have audio recordings from this case with the eyewitnesses and I will post over the next while.

Date: July 2, 2007
Time: Approximately: 10:45 p.m.

Hey Brian, Ok, so like I said I would I've been watching the skies. Not last night, but the night before, I saw something out of this world (no pun intended). It was about 10:45 p.m. at night and I saw two objects in the sky just hovering.

They weren't doing much, but something new with most sightings, they were different shaped objects. One was thin and longish, and the other was like a triangular shape.

They kept hovering there, so I got up quickly to run and grab my camera, but the next thing I know I hear a smallest bang, almost like a gun, and the longish one starts to hurtle towards earth on fire making a deep sound, kind of like a nuclear generator bass kind of sound. I'm thinking to myself what the hell!

I watched the object as it disappeared at low altitude behind a small hill between my neighborhood and the lake. I looked up and I saw the triangular object make a small circle, come a little lower and then I see it start to hurdle towards the sky at a fast rate, and the long one reappears from behind the hill, there was no more fire, and ascending at break neck speed and when it gets a little higher, I saw it literally shoot something at the other object and then a very loud bang and the triangular one was no longer visible.

The long shaped one started to what looked like it was searching the sky. It was going north, then south, then east and west, very quickly, almost like a hummingbird when it goes side to side.

Then the object disappeared and I suppose it's departure broke the sound barrier immediately because I heard that sonic boom when the barrier is broken.

Anyways, like I said. This seems ludicrous, and after my many years of watching the skies, I finally saw what seemed like two E.T.s duking it out.

The thing I find interesting about this sighting though, is that the objects were not glowing eerily like most UFO sightings refer to.

It makes the sighting almost that much more "real" if you know what I mean.

Westbank British Columbia Two UFOs - One Hits The Lake.

Date: July 2, 2007

Time: Approximately: 11:00 p.m.

Brian Vike's Note: This is a very interesting report, and since reports have been coming from the entire area I was wondering if other people who may have been witness to the objects, and sound would you please file a report on the event to Brian Vike at brian_vike@telus.net

Message: I don't know what happened last night, but It was the most frightening, incredible, and down right terrifying thing I have ever seen!

I was walking my dog along the Beach in Westbank, B.C. and minding my own business at close to 11:00 p.m. on the 2nd of July (yesterday) when I seen this really, really, really big bright thingy that looked something like a, well, I don't know, but it didn't fit the usual description of a UFO round type of object.

Below a map of Okanagan Lake and the Kelowna, British Columbia area.

It looked somewhat like a torpedo or something with wings, kind of like a fighter jet, screaming across the sky and downwards on fire.

It crashed into the lake and there was a big splash, almost like a large, large plane. The sound was incredibly, loud and like a deep bass "womp, womp, womp" sound as it came down.

I ducked for cover thinking of a meteor or asteroid or something. I started to freak out and yell and as I was standing up, something came literally shooting back out of the water and I saw it start to hurtle towards a different looking object very high in the sky, which kind of looked like a cone of some sort.

I saw what looked like what you would see in a star wars movie for the bullets from the blaster. It was coming from the object that just was in the lake, and I heard a loud bang that knocked me off my feet.

I looked up to see what the heck was going on and the cone shaped object was gone and the torpedo thing was just hovering. Moving from side to side looking almost confused and then a loud sonic boom and it was gone.

People came running out to me as I screamed loudly and people asked me what happened. What was I going to say, I just saw two UFOs? Not likely. What the heck could have this been?

Mission In Kelowna, British Columbia Another Witness To Strange Object And Loud Sound

Date: July 2, 2007
Time: Approximately: 11:00 p.m.

Brian Vike's Note: By the sounds of things this is another eyewitness for the sighting that took place in and around the Kelowna, B.C. area on the same night. Object seen and a loud sound noted. Also if anyone has any information on this sighting, please do contact Brian Vike at brian_vike@telus.net

Message: My name is (removed by Brian Vike). I saw something that almost seems like a dream. Last night at about 11:00 p.m. I was watching TV at home (I live in the Mission in Kelowna) and I just happened to catch a bright light through my window.

I didn't think much of it because our neighbors car always shines the lights in our house because of the make up of the drive-way.

I continued to watch TV and I heard an extremely loud bang that scared the hell out of me. I ran to the window and looked around and I happened to catch a glimpse something in the sky hovering and moving side to side. Then I heard another really loud boom and it was gone. I wonder if anyone else has reported this?

Kelowna, British Columbia Cylinder Shaped Craft Entirely Lit Up

Date: July 2, 2007
Time: Approximately: 11:00 p.m.

Hello Mr. Vike. My name is (full name removed). I live on (removed) Rd. Kelowna. On Monday night I was sitting on my front steps talking to my friend on the phone and saw something strange in the sky as well.

This also may confirm the stories that my friend read in Fridays paper. Please feel free to call me at my home so we can discuss this in better detail. Thank you for your time.

Brian Vike telephoned the witness on July 10, 2007 to see what other information I might be able to gather.

The witness told me she had arrived home from a friends place and noticed another friend had left a message for her to call. The lady took her telephone outside as she was returning the call, plus having a cigarette.

As the two friends talked on the phone the witness noticed a long cylinder shaped light. Her first thoughts were that she was just seeing an airplane as she is close to where the flights fly directly overhead, but the woman went on to say, the object was a little odd looking as it wasn't exactly on the normal flight path.

The entire craft was fully lit up. After approximately 3 or 4 minutes of viewing time it was gone, the witness said it was like someone turned off the light switch. (we are not sure if the craft moved quickly away from it's location, or with the lights out and due to the darkness the object just wasn't visible).

The object was stationary and not a sound was heard coming from it. It also wasn't sitting at a high altitude, lower than a small Cessna would fly at. Rather low she mentioned and there were also no flashing or blinking lights on it at all.

The lady mentioned to her friend on the telephone that possibly she may have just been witness to a UFO sighting. Both kidded around about what was seen and talked for a while longer then hung up.

On July 6, 2007 the witness gets a phone call from the same friend informing her about an newspaper article on UFO sightings that was reported in the local Kelowna newspaper. (Kelowna Capital News). This is when the lady decided to write an email to me asking if I would telephone her.

Below - Other eyewitnesses to part of the same UFO event.

Large Round Craft Hovers For An Hour Over Okanagan Lake (Kelowna) British Columbia

Brian Vike's - The Vike Factor: A lady must have called the Kelowna Capital News to request my phone number as the witness called me up and explained what it was she witnessed over Okanagan Lake. The lady said she saw the same UFO twice over a weeks time period.

Date: July 2, 2007
Time: 2:00 a.m.

The first sighting of the craft was on Monday June 25, 2007 and again on the evening everyone else witnessed the unusual UFO event, which would have been July 2, 2007.

The witness said she was awake and got up at 2:00 a.m. and watched the craft for approximately one hour. The object was hovering, she said it did not move from it's position over top of the lake.

There were a string of lights that went around the bottom part of the object and as she watched, the bottom lights would fade out and lights at the top of the craft came on, still appearing to circle the object.

Also the top portion of the craft seemed to be lit up. The woman also stated that beams of light would shoot out from the top of the UFO and also from the bottom. Finally after roughly the hour had passed by, the craft shot up quickly and was gone and out of sight.

She reports that not a sound was heard coming from it. The lady lives on lake frontage and had an amazing view of the event. The object was low and again stationary over the water. (not touching the water at anytime)

The witness said it appeared to be looking for something, or that is the impression she got from observing the event.

Thank you to all the eyewitnesses for their reports.

Brian Vike, The Vike Factor (Into The Paranormal)  https://canadaufo.blogspot.com/

Below is an newspaper article the Kelowna Capital Newspaper ran on this UFO event.

Vike Researches Okanagan UFO 'Shootout'

By Jennifer Smith Staff Reporter Kelownacapnews.com

Did you see an unidentified flying object touch down on Okanagan Lake Monday evening? Well, apparently at least three of your neighbors did and they all managed to track down preeminent B.C. UFO researcher Brian Vike to report the phenomenon.

Late Monday evening Vike started receiving reports of an unidentifiable fireball hovering over the lake. "Everything seemed to look good and usually you can tell if it's a hoax or not," said Vike, who was furiously contacting local media for help by Tuesday morning.

Kelowna has been a hot spot for Vike who operates a UFO research organization, The Vike Factor, out of his home in Houston, B.C. Back in 2003 two women reported an incredible alien encounter on a Kelowna street and it wound up among Vike's biggest cases.

The sighting was featured in a CTV special and even wound up on the Montel Williams show as fodder for a famous psychic. So, when three sightings were reported on the same night this week out of Kelowna, Vike figured it was worth some attention.

The first sighting was by a woman walking her dog in Westbank who noticed a fireball that appeared to dive into the lake and then return to the air. "This thing ended up coming back out of the water and started to hurl toward a different looking object very high in the sky, which is totally bizarre," said Vike.

An excerpt from the email she sent the UFO researcher shows just how upsetting the episode was for the pet owner.

"OK, I don't know what happened last night but it was the most frightening, incredible, and down right terrifying thing I have ever seen," she wrote. "I ducked for cover thinking of a meteor or asteroid or something. I started to freak out and yell and as I was standing up, something came literally shooting back out of the water and I saw it start to hurtle towards a different looking object very high in the sky."

The sighting reportedly occurred at 11 p.m. Vike does not give out the names of those who make reports to protect their privacy but he does go to great lengths to verify their claims.

Earlier this months he was featured on Castanet and is still going through the material he received after the story hit their web site and he is working on several reports he received on Father's Day from Trail, B.C.

Apparently an airborne craft shook residents from their beds in the Kootenay town, prompting a hunt for UFOs on local radio and even in the newspapers, he said. But this week's incident in Kelowna has him unusually excited.

"They saw what appeared to be a Star Wars movie full of bullets and blasters, kind of thing and I've had reports from other areas similar to what they're talking about," he said.

A second report from the Mission area noted the image was accompanied by a sonic boom and yet another report has come in since then.

Local RCMP did not receive any unusual calls Monday night, to the best of the media spokesperson's knowledge. And nothing usual appeared on Navigation Canada's radar. The air traffic control tower at Kelowna International Airport closed just shortly before the sightings occurred.

"I checked with the area control center. Now they only have radar for planes' transponders and so if it was a UFO it didn't have a transponder on. So no, we have no reports of any unusual aircraft in the area," said Ron Singer, Navigation Canada communications.

From this point forward, Vike will be combing his sources, checking with military contacts, police and beyond to see what he can dig out. If anyone can tell him what was going on in Kelowna's skies Monday night, he can be reached at brian_vike@telus.net.

If anyone has witnessed the UFOs/Objects, please send me an email (brian_vike@telus.net) with details of what you saw. Please remember to include the date and time and location. (Town/City – State or Province) and as much detail as possible.

Thank you to the eyewitnesses for their excellent reporting. Also thank you to the media for helping out in finding others to this amazing case.

Amazing UFO Hovers Above The Mountainside Bridge River Lillooet British Columbia

Brian Vike's Favorite Cases.

Some of the sighting reports I will be posting are cases from past years. I found this report as well as others fascinating, also the person, in this case, Sourdough Sue Ward was such a delight and very interesting to speak to in a telephone conversation. This like other cases are buried in my Canada UFO Blog so I figured I would post some of my favorites.

 Winter of 1966,

Time 9:00 p.m.

Dear Brian, In 1966, finding myself alone, except for the family cat, Caboodle, after the family breakup and ultimate divorce, I traveled up the Fraser River Canyon to the small village of Lillooet, two hundred road miles north of Vancouver.

My former C.O. from my Army days, (name deleted), lived in a mobile home and worked with (name deleted) on her Bridge River-Lillooet News. I joined them, and having spent a month living over The News Office with (name deleted), I learned I could rent a dandy suite overlooking the Fraser River Canyon.

The sliding doors opened onto a wide sun deck. The P.G.E. rails were just beyond the fence at the end of the lot. When the 110 car freights rumbled by I was face to face with the engineers. I used to try to list the many boxcars, the rolling stock of railroads from all over North America in those pre computer days.

At nights no lights shone from the few homes scattered on the bench land below, on the other side of the tracks. The highway connecting Lillooet with the outside world was on the far side of the river. Came the darkness, the valley was pitch black except for the odd set of headlights of cars traveling into town. There was no road on the mountainside which loomed up on the town side of the canyon.

One winter Friday night my friend had walked over for a visit. The folks in the adjoining suite had the TV on for the Dean Martin Show which aired at 9:00 p.m. My friend relaxed in an easy chair from which she could see out through the sliding doors. I sat opposite on the chesterfield, too far back to share her view. As we chatted, she suddenly, turned her head, and, staring out through the glass door, exclaimed in a sharp voice, "What's that ?"

I jumped up quickly to share her excitement and immediately saw a huge red swirling ball with flaring red orange flaming edges coming towards us from above the west side mountain.

Grabbing the glass door catch I shouted "let's get out onto the deck," which we did. As we stood side by side, we watched the whirling fire ball hurdle towards us, so fast that we both ducked down, putting our hands on our heads as we truly expected to be hit as it crashed upon us. But, as we crouched and watched, the thing hovered "just above the mountainside" so to speak, spinning and flaring, to right, to left, to right again, for a few seconds.

It hesitated on the final jerk to the right, then in erratic short jumps, still spinning and flaring, it began to recede, grow smaller, to nothing, back into the sky from whence it had come.

We returned to the room, quite shaken up, and my friend snapped, "Exactly what did we see ?"

I put into words much as I have in this account, using my extended arm to describe the movement. "Exactly !" she snapped.

Being Friday night with everything closed for the weekend, we had no way of finding out if anyone else had shared the sight. The news was being printed, not in Lillooet, but in Fort St. John at Ma'sson Dan's newspaper shop, so nothing was "of the moment"

By the time the weekend was over and folks were back on the job, we felt rather foolish in speaking of our UFO encounter. Had we not rushed to the sun deck, causing us to be physically involved, had we just focused and seen it with our sight, we may well have pondered if we had seen it at all.

I recall when I saw the movie "Strange Encounters" some years back I thought the UFO props were not nearly as exciting as what we had shared on that Friday night in Lillooet, B.C.

It is now August 20, 2000 and in Houston Newspaper, Wednesday 9 August 2000 one Brian Vike is asking for news of any sightings "past or present" and as my friend passed on at 83, years ago, and I am now living in (location deleted) on the shore of (location deleted) at age 87, I decided to pass on our joint experience of that special Friday night in Lillooet. My friend would truly approve !

My many thanks and warm wishes to Sourdough Sue Ward and her friend.

Sue's colorful name comes from her adventures in Dawson City, Yukon.

Names and location of course are deleted to protect their privacy.
