Orange Ball Of Fire Seen In The Sky Over Kennisis Lake Haliburton Highlands Ontario

Date:  Summer of 2010
Time:  Approx: 10:00 p.m.

Hi, my wife and I saw two strange sightings when building a bonfire at our cottage in the Summer of 2010. Both occurred around 10:00 p.m. Sightings happened about two weeks apart.

First one was on a clear night. A very bright (ball of fire) approached towards us from the north. It was much brighter than Venus. It appeared to turn direction slightly and move in a south/east direction, crossing to the far horizon in about 20 seconds. Much too quick for a plane or a satellite. It was completely silent.

We figured it was a meteorite and the perception that it changed direction was an illusion. With no other objects visible in the atmosphere there was no point of reference to determine distance away or size of the object.

The second sighting started from the the same northern location, another ball of fire except it was brighter and approached our position more slowly.  We looked with binoculars and could make out glimpses of a large smooth globe (like glass) that was being obscured by fire emitting from it.

It seemed to slow down and pause and then made a 90 degree turn to the west and accelerated out of site in about 10 seconds. Again it was completely silent but as it turned westward it went in front of a cloud and there was no mistake that it was within our atmosphere.

We did a Google search back in 2010 but found no reports of similar sightings. I just thought about it again tonight because there is a UFO show on TV. I found a witnesses report on my search.

Large Bright Shimmering Yellow/Amber Light Seen At Lake Kashigawigamog Haliburton Ontario

Date: October 2, 2010
Time: 5:45 p.m.

Number of witnesses: 2
Number of Objects: 1
Shape of Objects: Shimmering light.

Full Description of Event/Sighting: Just before dusk on October 2, 2010, my husband and I from our cottage on the north shore of Lake Kashagawigamog noticed a large bright shimmering yellow/amber light just above the south west horizon of Lake Kashigawigamog above a high promontory and across the lake from Puffer's Island.

At first we thought it was a helicopter, because the light hovered motionless in the sky for about five minutes after we spotted it. The light shimmered like objects on the hot tarmac in the summertime and the colour shifted from yellow to golden to amber and back again randomly. It was slightly overcast, but the horizon was clear of clouds.

As we stood outside and watched there was no sound at all, which we found very unusual as sound carries quite well over the water. After at least three minutes the light slowly moved straight up and into the cloud bank. We watched for it to re-emerge from the cloud bank, (which if it had been a plane or helicopter it would have) but there was no sign of it anywhere and absolute silence.

UFO Appears Like Stars Over Haliburton Ontario

Date: July 18, 2010
Time: Approx: 1:00 - 1:30 a.m.

Hi there. I read the sighting. Here is mine. I was cottaging in Haliburton and my son had a group of friends around the campfire. The lake was very quiet. I went out to check on things around 1:00 - 1:30 a.m. As I walked back to the cottage, a flash in the sky caught my eye. It was a very clear night.

There was a grouping of stars which began to brighten and became very, very intense in brightness. This lasted for a couple of seconds and then the entire grouping of stars started to dim to the point that you could not see them.

After about 5 seconds, the same grouping of stars once again became very, very bright, then dimmed again to the point you could not see them. This grouping of stars also moved a fair distance in the approximate 10 minutes that we all stood and watched them. It was very strange. There was no noise.

It crossed my mind that perhaps it was some type of UFO framed by star type lights. This would have been a very large UFO if it was. I mentioned to my son and his friends that if anything strange happened to get into the cottage. It was just a very, very strange group of stars.

I peeked out throughout the night to see whether they were still around, but my I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me.

I too was curious if anyone else had witnessed this so I Googled strange star sightings for July 18, 2010 and there was a couple on an Alberta UFO site that saw exactly what we saw and the description of the sighting was what we all saw. The sighting in Alberta was at 1:00 a.m. on July 18th.

I had an uneasy feeling. My son said it was probably a satellite and therefore I didn't pay too much more attention to it.
